@robaota: I didn't know either and I'm usually on top of stuff like that. They were told it was a horrible choice and so it was changed. I don't know what else people want. Giant Bomb is NOT a place that's afraid of speaking up about controversies and shitty people. If they were aware I'm gonna say they would have said so.
It's okay to get upset when people make a bad decision, but it's also okay to let that go once they act on the feedback for the better. There's no need to stay upset once the problem has been addressed.
I'm only halfway through this one but as I wrote on the Bombcast, thank you guys for talking about the heavy news so directly. It might just be me but I dislike when people try and tiptoe around stuff or pretend it doesn't exist and try to continue like nothing is wrong. I think it's important for everyone to talk about these things and go into them in detail because it's just so wrong and awful, and trying to act like they don't exist is like ignoring the victims who go through it all and have such a difficult time speaking out in the first place. So again, thank you all!
Of course, if you're a viewer who is uncomfortable with the subject matter then I completely understand. As long as a majority of people are talking about it and confronting it, I think that's good.
Rough stuff all around but I always appreciate you guys talking openly about it and admitting to past mistakes. I haven't finished the entire podcast but just ended the more serious stuff at the start and wanted to say this right away.
I hope this silly joke of "hold weird shit you have in your room up to the camera" continues as long as you guys are still working from home. Lol genuinely makes me laugh because it's so bizarre what you all have collected over the years of covering games.
This presentation though...less exciting? I mean, Apex on Switch is cool. And the starfighters looked kinda neat. But man that Skate announcement is just weird. I feel like the EA higher ups saw that story about the skater and it went:
"You guys need to tell them we're working on it!"
"Uh well we don't really have anything to show-"
"Just say it exists! We'll throw you guys in at the end! Do you have webcams?"
"Yes but maybe we should wait-"
"Put some skateboard shit in the background, let's go, we gotta render this thing in 30 minutes!"
@reversegamelan: The Duke controller was relatively big compared to most controllers. I found someone's reddit post comparing the re-released Duke with the Xbox One Elite controller. And basically the running joke in the general gaming community is just that it's really big lol. I think Vinny's hands are big so that's what the joke on this specific podcast was about. Now that I look at it again, it's not as big as I remember but if people are like me, they played with this controller when they were way younger. So imagine a kid's hands on that thing. It makes it seem even more ridiculous in my memory! I wonder if that's why a lot of people remember it too?
