@artisanbreads: Yeah, ok. But you coexist with people who like different things than you. I have barely tolerated two old members of the crew for years. To the point I sometimes had to make a break and have a walk while listening to a podcast to prevent myself from shouting at the screen like an idiot (I mostly listen at work). Never once have I mentioned my heroic struggle in the comments. Most members like them and I don't have to be catered to 100%. And even after all these years when they say something spot on I do a little happy jig.
Ben, these people are strange, don't let them get to you.
No way to say it without coming off as just an intolerant, precious little dummy, but I'm really frustrated by having to adjust what GB features I watch based on whether or not Ben is going to be there. Wish I could stomach him, but he's just pateince-testingly not my type of guy. I miss Dan at GBW.
I think I've just been spoilt with the rest of the crew being my kinda people until now. Somebody sell me on Ben - i'm a really desperate buyer.
You're right, you've been extremely spoilt in this regard. Learning to coexist with people you don't along with is a necessity in life. It might help to know that likely the majority of viewers have one or more crew members they find grating.
@humanity: Oh, I forgot to add that I agree with you on literally everything else in that comment (and with others with similar sentiment). You're also right that as far as artistic provocation goes, saying "X is bad and has the worst Y in history" is not particularily imaginative or skillfull. Dan's capable of more.
With the phrasing issue I think it comes down to what it is that these podcasts are all about. Are they making a piece of entertainment for people to enjoy? Or is this just an outlet for them to talk among themselves one day of the week and other people listening in is something completely incidental? If you're making something for the public to enjoy then I think you should take those listeners under consideration. If this is just a garage project that is put out on the airwaves because "why not" and they don't care if anyone listens to it then by all means, do what you want, even put in 2 hours of static noise in between segments.
Since its inception I've thought of the Beastcast as comedy with a sprinkle of game criticism. Looking at my pantheon of audio comedy I realised that there isn't a single example that doesn't contain a significant amount of confrontation. I might not be interested in Wrestling in the slightest, but apparently I'm highly receptive to heel personas: Andy Breckman in Seven Seconds Delay, Justin Roiland in Grandma's Virginity Podcast, Herring (and sometimes Collins) in Collings & Herrin, to some extent Joe Cornish on Adam & Joe.
In my private life I try to cushion criticism as much as I can, but if it's in service of entertainment people should be free to sometimes be abrasive. Again, it would be different if I considered Dan an expert and this podcast as something other than great comedy.
Wait, Vinny got penalized for not signalling while pulling INTO a circle? Is that how it works in the US? Because in Germany they say you don't have to signal turning into a circle, because there's only one direction you can go from there. You only should signal when leaving the circle.
I thought it was standardized across the UE until very recently. While on vacation in Greece I learned that the vehicle entering the roundabout has priority, which seems like it almost defeats the purpose.
