I haven't bought a launch day PS4 game since PS4 launch, but I'm seriously considering this one. It just looks like the kind of game I want in my life right now.
I look forward to every Monday morning for this series even when it's frustrating as all hell to watch.
But honestly, the idea that "I'm right next to this alien, why is my shot percentage 40%?!?" is still a thing 19 episodes in confuses the hell out of me. Cover applies to all shot situations that aren't flanks, regardless of distance. And it works both ways, thankfully.
I didn't even notice the dismissals, I was too focused on the insane tactical decisions that somehow worked out in Dan's favor EVERY SINGLE TIME. Whew. What a ride.
@hassun: I'm maybe 10 minutes in and I think I agree. It's surprisingly the same looking thing as before. Colored loot actually seems like a beneficial addition to this franchise (it's basically been there in some form already, as mentioned) but it's just so...not a leap forward. Maybe I'm not sure what I want from a new AC game but it isn't this.
Sometimes the heads are yellow, but I forget what that means. Mind-controlled enemies?
Yellow means flanked. Yellow head = enemy flanked (hence higher crit %), yellow shield = flanked while in cover. I'm not sure they've grasped this yet.
@izzygraze: It would be, except they have 2 continents with no satellites so the ships are wasted.
Looking at the overall panic levels, I'm pretty concerned this isn't going past another couple episodes (put some money toward squad size upgrade?) but I look forward to the next one all the same.
I binged this series in the last week or so at work, I miss XCOM so it's been great.
My only hope is that they get some real weapons on all soldiers (laser across the board at minimum, but get some god damn plasma rifles from capturing thin men) and upgrade the interceptors.
