Get Zeno Clash soundtrack FREE. No strings attached.

I had no idea what Zeno Clash is. (Luckily you are on Giant Bomb, where you can look that stuff up)
But really, that's not important. In Atlus' email newsletter, they said that you can get the Zeno Clash Soundtrack for free.
Not really interested in this game, but hey, who can turn down free (and legal) stuff, right?

The game doesn't really look too bad. But really, free soundtrack, no preorder or purchase necessary. Cool huh?

Oh right, I guess I should really show you where to find it.
Go here. Look for the soundtrack tab on the bottom, and click where it says "Limited Time Offer, download free album"

There you go fellow Bombardiers. Til next time.

Various rantings about my PC, what do I need to run games?

I've had this computer for about 2 years, and I'd really like to start gaming on it.
I don't need it to be top of the line or anything like that. But I would like to play current games on it.
I would like to run things on the default settings, I don't want to have to turn down the settings.
My Power Supply recently crapped out. So I know I need to fix that.  But while I'm doing that, I figure I should tune it up to play games.

Here are my specs as of right now.

(From the General System Properties)
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+  (2.611 GHz)
2.61 GHz, 2.43 GB of RAM
 NVIDIA GeFORCE 6150 SE.
Running DirectX 9

I did some research around, and it seems like everything is fine except for the video card. Apparently the 6150 SE is pretty bad.
What video card would you recommend? I don't want to break the bank, but I want something decent.  I have a widescreen monitor if that affects anything.

Sorry that this seems so damn random. I'm trying to put as much info in as possible, and I'm really not sure what to ask.
Is there something else I should be looking at besides the recommended specs to run a game?

Anyways, if you're still reading this, any help would be appreciated. I am new to this, and don't want to mess things up too badly.
Thanks.

All of Adon's win quotes, ALL OF THEM.

Through sheer boredom and because I wanted to help this guy out, I decided to try and get all of Adon's win quotes written down. (He is doing a quote faq, and yeah, all 35 characters...insanity). Getting the 11 selectable ones were cake. Just play a vs. round against the Easiest CPU with a 0% life bar. But getting the arcade ones were tough. Had to go through, beat people, and hope that randomly you get everyone.

After fighting Dee Jay and Honda 50 times, I was getting sick of this, but pushed on. Narrowed down the people I needed. All that was left was M. Bison, Makoto, Guy, and Balrog. If it was any consolation, Vega was one of the last ones I had found before that. Those Shadaloo folks are annoying, thank goodness Sagat is his rival, so he was one of the first done.

So, it came down to Makoto and Balrog, after updating my status, I got Makoto. Funny how that works huh? Now all that was left was Balrog.

After about another hour of fighting one round arcade matches, I gave up, quit out of SSFIV, and was about to go to bed. Then I realized...
"What if I was Balrog and ended up fighting Adon? My odds have to be pretty good right?"

So I picked Balrog, and wouldn't you know it, Adon was my second opponent. I lost to him, and got my final quote.

I thought about doing this with another few people, but after this? Screw that.
Here are all the quotes.

Selectable Quotes
1. Muay Thai is the single most powerful art on the face of the planet!
2. Like the mighty jaguar, I grow more powerful with each victory!
3. No one is strong enough to face me! No one!
4. There is no value in allowing the weak to live!
5. A new legend is born this day! All hail the mighty Adon!
6. Feast your eyes on the new King of Muay Thai!
7. Not bad, but not good enough to dethrone the king!
8. Annoying worm! Begone with you!
9. Remember this day, for it is the day you truly understood your own weakness!
10. I am the king!
11. Fool!

Character Specific Arcade Quotes.  (Remember, Ctrl+F is your friend)

Vs. Dhalsim: The flames of your god cannot harm the king!
Vs. C. Viper: Sniff around somewhere else, you meddlesome rat!

Vs. Chun Li: Did you think your pitiful kicks could actually harm the king of Muay Thai?
Vs. Abel: Obsession with the past is a sign of weakness, worm!
Vs. Cody: Back to the doghouse with you, cur!
Vs. Guile: Is this all a professional soldier has to offer?
Vs. Zangief: All the muscles in the world don't matter when you're slow as molasses
Vs. Rufus: Leave my sight at once or face the wrath of a jaguar enraged!
Vs. El Fuerte: Get that putrid garbage away from me!
Vs. Vega: For my finale, why don't I crush your head under my heel, worm!
Vs. T. Hawk: Only the strong survive! Best you learn that lesson now, worm!
Vs. Rose: Your predictions are worthless to me! I shall forge the future myself!
Vs. M. Bison: Your cheap tricks aren't enough to dethrone me!
Vs. Guy: Your legs are swift, but they cannot deliver you from the jaguar's rage!
Vs. Makoto: Choose to stay here at your own peril! This jaguar has claws, child!
Vs. Balrog: I can see why the call you the buffalo. You're about as smart as one!

That's not a typo, it really does say, "I can see why the call you the buffalo."
Which would explain a hell of a lot! Why can't I ever fight Balrog? Well, his damn win quote would have a damn typo in it!
Seriously though, not going to do this again.

Little bit of facts (All I did was copy and paste into word and use Find and Replace, not too precise, haha)
"Muay Thai" is in 7 of his 45 quotes.
"King" is used 7 times as well.
"Jaguar" is used in 6 of his win quotes.
"Worm" is used 4 times.

That does it, tune in next week when I will be doing Rufus's quotes. Or not...
And for the record, I use quote 7 the most, followed by quote 9. Good night folks!

Another Playstation Store update, another mini to review.

It's that time of the week folks. Time to pick and choose another PSP mini to review for the week.

Last week I did Finger Connection, a twister game on your PSP. Yeah, THAT game of Twister.
I'd skip it, for gods sake, skip it.

Instead of doing the usual poll and nonsense this week, I decided to just put the info down, and see what replies I gather.
If I get any good, if not, no big deal. Keeps me from bumping a topic every day, which also means that you will only be annoyed by this topic briefly.
If enough people miss the poll, I might bring it back, but I doubt that will happen.
So...here are the minis and descriptions for this week!

Busy Sweets Factory- Grab a friend and take on the role of two fledgling confectionary chefs and work together to create delicious desserts in Busy Sweet Factory. Stay on your toes, because coming down the conveyor belt quickly are a mix of cakes, ice creams,  cookies, and other treats that you need to decorate with multiple layers of luxurious delicious toppings.
My thoughts (after reading that description): Sounds like that one episode of I Love Lucy, a good portion of you reading this have no idea what I'm talking about.

Love Cupid- Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be Cupid? In Love Cupid it is your job to help couples fall in love by shooting as many hearts as you can with your love arrows. Work together with a friend to collect the fallen hearts and increase the couple's affection by filling up their love meter. But be careful to avoid menaces in your way and corrupted bad hearts. Share the love!
My thoughts: They lost me after asking if I wondered what it would be like to be Cupid.

Quiz Animania- Can you correctly identify a duck by only looking at a zoomed in picture of its bill? How about spotting an rhino by just by a flashing image of it's rump? Quiz Animania is a lighthearted game that will challenge your knowledge of the animal kingdom.
My thoughts: Yes, that did say "spotting an rhino by just by a flashing image of its rump." Don't dwell on that for TOO long.

If any of these intrigue you, please...post away.  See you soon!

This foreign plastic device in my hands. My SS USB controller.

Is this the key to SSFIV Greatness?
Is this the key to SSFIV Greatness?
A mysterious package came in the mail a few days ago. It was my new toy. A Sega Saturn USB controller. I bought it because I wanted to try something new. I didn't want a stick, because the learning curve scared me. So I decided to get a pad. And instead of buying the MadCatz one, I decided to gamble on a foreign ebay seller.

The pad came in, and it's nice. I had a bit of time adjusting to the circular dpad (too many moves ended with uf instead of f) but I'm getting better with it. It's better than mapping buttons to the L1, R1, L2, R2 buttons. But I can't break that damn habit. I hope I can get a bit better with it. I have trouble pulling off double motions (for supers) properly. I'll write more about this as time goes on.

"Distant Worlds II: More Music From Final Fantasy" quick review.

I got a nice surprise today when I found out that the second Distant Worlds cd was released.

No Caption Provided

For those of you who don't know, Distant Worlds is the name of the show where an orchestra along with Nobuo Uematsu's group plays versions of favorite Final Fantasy songs. The first CD was released a couple years ago, and was pretty good. Mainly because of the new re-imagining of songs from the older FF games (The opera from FFVI comes to mind.

The second CD is music from the second tour, with a ton of brand new songs. The official CD is going to be released next month, but the digital version was released last month at ffdistantworlds.com for only 10 dollars.

Whether or not you will like a song or not has a lot to do with how much you like Final Fantasy music, obviously. And even then, if you love the music, you may feel like these new versions lack the same feeling of the original, or might be fantastic. With that said, I'm going to try to give a quick opinion on each song.

  • Prelude (Final Fantasy Series) - The main theme. Very nicely done, the vocals add a nice touch to it.
  • The Man With the Machine Gun (FF8) - Laguna's theme. When I saw this I thought, there was no way that this could be good. But I was pleasantly surprised, still kinda weird, but not completely horrible
  • Ronfaure (FF11)- I can't really say too much about this, never played XI
  • A Place to Call Home~Melodies of Life (FF9)- A Place To Call Home is the title music of FF9, and leads into Melodies of Life pretty well (The main vocal theme of FF9).
  • Zanarkand (FF10)- If you played X, then you know this song. Not as mindblowingly different, but still a pretty good song
  • Dancing Mad (FF6)- The final battle theme of FFVI. Amazing with a capital A. They really nailed this song. The final section was just stunning, the added vocals combined with the guitars at the end (if you've heard the Black Mages version, it's pretty familiar) make it end with a bang. Easily the showpiece of the CD
  • Victory Theme- Yeah, it is what it is
  • Suteki Da Ne (FF10)- The romantic song of FFX, I guess in the main game it was in Japanese, but its in English here. I kinda scoffed at that scene. Probably because the characters in the cutscenes looked WAY more Asian then the ingame models, and the cheesy romance. Oh right the song...it's okay. Again, didn't really remember this song too much.
  • Terra's Theme (FF6)-  Wasn't really a fan of this theme during the game, so this really didn't do much for me.
  • Main Theme (FF7) - aka the World Map music, I'm a fan of FF7, but come on...out of the songs to pick...THIS ONE?
  • Prima Vista Orchestra (FF9)- The song the orchestra is playing on the ship at the beginning of the game, eh...indifference
  • Dear Friends (FF5)- This is the farthest back they go as far as specific game music. A very nice rendition of the song.
  • J-E-N-O-V-A (FF7)- Another one of those "wow, really?" songs. I liked it a lot. The vocals seem way out of place on this one though.

I must say though, the selection is way better this time than the last. The last time it seemed like they were picking which songs could translate to this theme easier. This time they are just going. Which songs do people want.

And there you have it. If you're wondering things like "WHERE'S ONE WINGED ANGEL" well, they decided that it was too overrated. So it missed the cut.  Kidding, in all seriousness, that song and many of the others were on the first CD. If you love FF Music, then you should love this. Well worth the purchase in my opinion.

RecSpec Music Journal: Elder Dragon of the Mist (MHFU)

So I started playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite again recently.

Picked up where I left off, and started the high rank quests solo.
Each stage and some of the monsters you can hunt has a theme.

The theme I picked is the theme of Chameleos, which is a chameleon-like dragon, if you couldn't tell from the name.
Chameleos had the ability to become invisible. And when he showed himself (OR you beat the stealth out him.

I like it, slow start, then picks up nicely. Love the main section of it.
A lot of the songs in MH are easily forgettable, but this is one that actually sticks.

Which PSN game will I review? The community has decided!

The RecSpec Review Project (horrible name, someone think of a good one?) is where I let the community vote on the next game I will review. A new vote up each week after the PSN update, and the winning game will be reviewed. More information is here.

Thanks for everyone who voted. The results are in!

Car Jack Streets stole the competition with 43.5% of the vote.
Star Wars: Dark Forces put up a good fight, but lost speed down the stretch ending with 21.7%
Either we had some fish aficionados, or some folks wanted me to review an aquarium simulator to torture me.
Reef Aquarium was third with 17.4 percent of the vote.
NormalTanks, Pinball Duel, and Music Quiz were all deemed irrelevant, each pulling in 4.3%

Thanks to the 23 people who voted, tune in TUESDAY (New PSN update day) for the next installment.

Keep it classy.

PS. after getting multiple messages about it, I switched my Monsters review to it's original form.
Sorry to anyone confused or offended by my review switch. I had no intention to make anyone look bad.
Just poor judgment on my part.

Which crappy PSN game should I review?

With another PSN update, there is another wave of crappy (most times) PSP minis and a PS1 classic.
If you've read my other reviews, you can see they are of the same type, games no one really would notice.
You can check out my Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess review on the front page (shameless plug)

So instead of just picking one at random, I've decided to let you folks pick for me.
I've created a list, and it's not too complex. I just use the following factors.
1. Has to have been released the current week
2. Has to be below 6 dollars (To hell with 7-10 dollar minis)

This helps everyone, I play crappy games so you don't have to, and I get to write more.

I really don't care why you pick the game you do.
You are genuinely interested in a game? Cool.
You like the way a game sounds? Alright
You really don't care about the reason, you just like polls. That's fine too.

Whichever game gets the most votes will be purchased, and a review will go up in days.

I'll try to do a new game every week, and hopefully readers can tag along.
And if you have a name for this...thing I'm doing. Please suggest one.
Thanks for your time.

My first 24 hours with SSF4

Various list of things

1. First thing I did, fired up the game, watched the intro cutscene (I love various remakes of character themes), went straight to online.
Picked Fei Long, and ended up facing a Sagat. Not a big deal, except for the fact that I didn't reassign my controller buttons like I did with SF4.
So, yeah. I lost.

2. Characters I have beaten Arcade Mode on Hardest with: Fei Long, Adon, Zangief.

3. As I said in the music journal, I'm picking up Adon, and loving him. He is so disorienting to other people.
Currently D+ now, hope to have C by the end of today

4. Trials are hit or miss, I did T. Hawks first 22! Then for some, I get jammed at 14.

5. Car game was okay the first time, barrel game sucked. They are turned off now.

6. Okay I lied, first thing I did was install the game.

7. Played some rounds with friends in endless battle. Ended my friends 9 win streak. Pretty lucky, but I'll take it.

8. Later got asked to play with another friend and his arcade going buddies. Not fun at all.

9. Have a blister on my thumb, maybe I should invest in a stick

10. I love color 11. Looks so much better on a tv than on youtube.

That's all for now, til next time.
