The trailer definitely looked like that they had at least the first Mako Reactor and the journey back to 7th Heaven done and nothing else. I get the impression they might just put out these "highlights" sections of the game episodically.
Hopefully it would be a episodic structure like this:
1.) Reactor 1 to Shinra HQ, missing out Wall Market because that is absolute filler.
2.) Flashback Nibelheim (please don't add Genesis please) - Golden Saucer (ending on Dyne's death, one of the most poignant moments in FF7 but this is Nomura so unfuckinglikely)
3.) Gongaga - end of disc 1, Wutai removed
4.) Northern Carter - Diamond Weapon, probably cutting down or completely removing the Huge Materia fetch quests
5.) Midgar 2: Beyond Shinradome - Holy kills all the humans at the end, Compilation of FF7 never happened
Making comments on the battle system in pointless, just look at old trailers that have been put out for FFXIII and XIV and you'll see they overhauled a lot of it for release. I doubt it will stay looking like this.
A good angle that is stationary (no zooming or paning) and captures the action well will help more than any camera can.
If you want "better quality" it's obvious that 1080p60 would be what you'd aim for but beware that if you don't have the right editing software that can work with progressive 60fps, it will be pointless.
As for camera suggestions, a DSLR type camera would not be suitable. All the ones I know of that are cheapish use rolling stutters which are poor for filming sports events. Any good 3CCD HD camera will put you into the thousands, even the 10 year old miniDV ones.
Mid-90s computer game should be all you need to know.
"Does it hold up?"
If you mean; is it a playable game? Yes. Is it a well made game? Yes. Is it going to be an easy straightforward game that tells you everything you need to do like most modern games today? No.
Quicksaving, multiple save slots, willingness to start over if things don't work out, actually taking notice of what you're doing in quests rather than "walk to this marked waypoint, now walk to the next" and thinking outside the "shoot everything" box (one of the favourite moments I had playing was causing a gun fight between two rivals in town and they both ended up killing each other with me to take the loot despite them being seriously tough characters) are all part and parcel.
PS4, been playing pretty much every day since release with a couple of days off.Gave me an Error message and quit the game on me once for no definable reason.
I've never been a PC person and my computer isn't some high end GPU so I'm not the best person to talk about frame rate but I've never noticed a drop any time I've played it.
Unlike New Vegas which would sometimes become unplayable if you wandered about an area too long and it would go to a frame every 3 seconds.
