Best of 2011

I know this is a highly anticipated list. All of my fans have been clamoring over this for a while now. I was wondering why I did not make a list back in 2011 and now I think I remember exactly why. Looking back at my 2010 list fills me with joy. It reminds me of a time where I graduated college and was living back at home. I was looking for a daddy job but in the meanwhile I was washing dishes at a cafe and playing video games. I had fun doing that. Looking at games of 2011 reminds me of taking a very shitty job and moving into a very shitty garage. I played a few games in that garage. Here they are:

List items

  • Portal 2 is pretty great. The story is very well written and the puzzles are fantastic. There is also a cooperative mode which was expertly executed.

This game just seemed to go many places that I was not expecting it to go. And it kept going too. It really blew me away.

I was gonna mention that it was super funny and did not rely on brining back easy cake jokes from the original Portal. I hated how much everybody clung to that joke when the Orange Box was released. It drove me bonkers. After a quick search it did seem like there was a cake joke but it was in the background so kudos.

  • Wowee! Talk about another awesome sequel. The original Dead Space came out of nowhere for me and was such a surprise. The sequel is an improvement in every way. If they re-released this I would definitely play it. I was gonna play the third one too but never got around to it. Should I do that guys? Should I play Dead Space 3?

  • Maybe 2011 was not that bad after all. So far all these games are superb. Really, I think all of these titles so far could be interchangeable for the number 1 spot. L.A. Noire. This game did so much right. This game had such an attention to detail. I love that stuff. It fills me with a childlike wonder to see games like this. If the adventure genre evolved there would be more games like this. I wish there were more games like this.

  • I played this campaign with a few buddies. It's pretty tough to not have a good time under these circumstances. I also love buff dudes.

  • The art in this game is so good. I am a sucker for platformers and this one is a hoot. Not much else to say here.

  • What a stupid game. I let my buddy borrow this and I never got it back. He got married and now has a kid. I would feel weird asking for this back now. But that is the thing with this game. I had a great time playing through it but never really wanted to touch it again. I would highly recommend picking this guy up for 20 bucks and jamming though it during a boring weekend.

  • So I think we are getting to the part of my list where I had to do a deep dive to think of games to add. Ms. Splosion Man was ok. It was funny. There was a Total Recall reference and a Predator reference. Maybe that was just Splosion Man? This game really blends into the original title. It did not do much to elevate the Splosion series.

  • So I bought a used DS for this game. It seemed like a really good Aliens game. That DS's right shoulder button does not work. I think I need that button to shoot. To be honest I did not play too much of this. When I buy a New 3DS I will properly play through this game and I cannot wait to do that.

  • I could never get too into these games. I really, really wanted to get absorbed in this game like everyone did with Oblivion. I thought this was going to happen because I fell in love with Fallout 3. But you know what? It just did not happen. I do not know what I cant get enveloped in these. What I played was solid but it never took me to that place that it seems to take other people.

  • This game was kind of a disappointment. I don't know what I was really expecting but I thought this was dumb. I payed full price for it during a time when 60 bucks was a quarter of my rent in that garage. The tenant of that garage before me is doing pretty good now. I like where I am at now as well. I can't wait to write my best of 2015 list. So far I have played a lot of goodies. Stay tuned!
