I am running the Giant Bomb video buddy app. My subscription is up to date. Whenever I try to watch a video (at any quality) I get a 40 second video of Jeff reading a message saying if you're seeing this video than something may be wrong, or perhaps you're doing something sinister, along those lines. I don't know why I'm having this issue. Is GB doing work on the back end to cause this? The developer of the app regularly supports it and updates it so I don't think that can be the issue. I have tried unlinking my /boxee code and reentering it but I still get the same issue. Is anyone else experiencing this issue with the android version of Video Buddy? Thanks, and God bless.

Hey duders! Whether you're a veteran or a newcomer, I want to hear your story.

Here is my story.

It was near the end of 2009 when I actually found Giant Bomb. The game Rogue Warrior came out in early December that year. I remember the buzz surrounding that game. The consensus was the game was terrible. Like 1/10 terrible. Who approved this game? I was amazed to discover that Bethesda was the publisher. Bethesda was a respected publisher of the Elder Scrolls games. How could they put something like this out? I had to see the game in action. I searched for videos of Rogue Warrior gameplay and after watching some reviews on other sites, I somehow found my way on to GiantBomb.com. The video was a so called "quick look" of the game "Rogue Warrior". That sounded like what I was looking for. Then I watched what would be my first quick look. And 23 minutes later, I was enthralled with Giant Bomb. I was blown away at how funny the video was. The video features Jeff and Ryan playing Rogue Warrior and, along with Mickey Rourke, cussing their god damn mother f***ing hearts out. And it was glorious! Watch it if you haven't seen it yet, or haven't seen it in awhile:

I watched other videos on Giant Bomb. I discovered that these guys weren't just funny. They were also intelligent journalists. They had incredible insight into video games. Hell, they were professionals (ex-GameSpot guys, like top guys, senior editors) but also comedians (in the general sense) running an independent video game website (technically owned by Whiskey Media). They had funding and put that to good use honestly, just doing whatever the hell they wanted. By this time I think they had found what Giant Bomb was going to be and the spirit of the site has remained. I started consuming all their content. I read reviews which were extremely well written (turns out they'd been doing it for years). All the content on the site was unique and fresh and funny and insightful. These guys at Giant Bomb appealed to my sense of humor. They were mature about video games but also out of their minds. They were wise about games and the history of games, especially Jeff. Ryan had this charisma and radio show host quality voice that made videos all the more entertaining. Brad was a southern boy but spoke very intelligent about games and totally seemed to fit in with Ryan and Jeff. And Vinny of course did what Vinny does best: Be Vinny.

Around this time, I saw that GiantBomb had a podcast and ever since listening to my first Bombcast I've held a special place in my heart for Tuesdays lol. These guys spoke about video games like mature adults but would pound energy drinks like teenage boys. The podcast sealed the deal for me. In 2010 we got the Persona 4 endurance run which was one of the greatest things to be apart of on this website. It was so entertaining. And most of you here know the rest. The ups and downs of the years to come. The addition of new staff members who have and continue to bring so much personality to the site. To this day I think Giant Bomb staff members are seen as respected, intelligent, mature, yet funny and irreverent game journalists. It's been an awesome ride over the years and I continue to visit Giant Bomb daily and consume all the content they put out.

How did you find Giant Bomb and what is your story?

Danny

Halo 4's storyline was fine. The problem was that it assumed you had read all the books. If you had read all the books, it was a real treat. If you hadn't read the books, you were left scratching your head. Especially about the Didact and what not.

That Destiny trailer is spot on. I can't stop re-watching it. Just like I can't stop playing the game. How ironic.

Patrick,

I am so sad to hear this happened to Brianna. However, I am happy that there are journalists like you who help raise awareness to the issue. The truth is, most gamers (and most people for that matter) are good, honest, descent folk. It's too bad that haters have to come out and, God forbid, threaten people! This is absolutely insane! All over a video game! Or a personal belief! Or social commentary! It's especially sad to see that females have been targeted lately. But I think this issue is much bigger than just gender. As you are very well aware, game developers of all genders, nations, creeds, religions, races, etc have been attacked over games. Persecution of any kind is sick and wrong.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There was an article posted on Kotaku I think where a (LDS) member shared how he was pleased with how the Fallout games (New Vegas) dealt with the subject of the Mormon religion in video games. But all the comments were filled with hatred towards the man and the Mormon religion. I too have experienced a lot of persecution, mostly online, over my religion. People have these ideas in their heads about what Mormons are. Or what Catholics are. Or what gays are. Whatever group of people, you name it. And they attack them because of false assumptions. The truth is, I don't have seven wives and I don't hate gays. Nor am I wearing a pair of magic underwear (they're just garments representing commitment to God and so on). I have nothing but loving kindness towards all races. If people would just take the time to get to know others and see that we really are not all that different, instead of judging them, I feel like the world would be a better place. Gamers from all walks of life ought to respect one another. I respect all gamers and all people from all walks of life. Seeing assholes treat good people like this really hits heart home. Because I know how it feels to be attacked. And you do too, Patrick... internet jerks are, well, a bunch of jerks! I don't know what drives them. Attention? Indifference? In my experience, a lot of people attack others because of traditions handed down by their fathers. Or in other words, how they were raised. That doesn't excuse them though.

The world should be a descent place. I have always been afraid to say "I'm Mormon" even here on Giant Bomb. But when that whole Twitter thing blew up when Dan and Jason got hired and Jeff wrote that article... that Giant Bomb is an inclusive place... I felt like I could be open about my religion. While I am not very active (attending church) I still have my beliefs. I'm glad Giant Bomb is a safe place with rad duders and dames. My heart goes out to Brianna and any other person affected by this horrific display of cruelty. I for one try to abide by the rule: love and respect everyone. You don't know what every man or woman's story is. So we should treat others with kindness. I can't stress enough how happy I am that Giant Bomb is an inclusive place. Thank you for raising awareness Patrick. Nevertheless I end this post saddened for Brianna and hope that all goes well for her. As well as Zoe and others who have been attacked. It's real sick. Thanks Patrick and God bless.
