I know you said you weren't interested in trance, but I have a good variety of pop, electronic music and hip-hop on my PS3 for when I play Midnight Club LA.

It's not terrible or anything, but that clip sort of re-inforces my opinion that the voice acting and dialogue is forced.  Also, that clip doesn't seem close to the way people would react in that situation.   "
Most of the character interactions in GTAIV isn't how people would really react either. It's a bit larger than life, and meant to be a bit over the top.  It works well, but it isn't really realistic From what I see from the Heavy Rain trailer, the detective guy knows how to be calm in high stress situations while the robber is very inexperienced and nervous. You can tell the robber is having second thoughts through his small movements after the last comments from the detective guy.  Subdued interactions are always harder than active ones, and I think they pull it off. "

I do have to admit that you have me somewhat convinced me about the robber.

But I just can't buy the whole "you'll get another chance not to fuck up your life" line.

I'm surprised by how many people have video game phobias. The level of immersion in video games is not yet complete enough to give me any game-related phobias.

Like I said to someone else, keep in mind that I'm aware that GTA IV's characters are still archetypes. I simply find its archetypes more realistic than the ones in other games.

"I find it weird how people say GTA 4 characters seem realistic. I've never met or seen anyone who acts anything like that. The characters also seem to not react much to crazy shit happening, it's like normal to them. They just didn't feel right. "

Many of them don't react because they are extremely desensitized. You'll find that characters like Roman and Kate who are not deep into the criminal lifestyle react very strongly to the things that are going on.

"I'm sorry.. but GTA4? All the personalities in that game are extremely exaggerated. That's like saying The Simpsons is full of realistic personalities. Sure, you might know someone who is as dumb as Homer, or rebellious as Bart, but they're very exaggerated and comical personalities. Mass Effect 1/2 has some fantastic character personality. "

Brucie and Manny are the only characters that comes across as overly exxagerated. Characters like Roman and Kate and Dwayne are very realistic.

The Simpsons comparison is completely disingenious to me. Even if I agreed with that GTA4's characters were extremely exaggerated (which I don't with the exception of the two listed)  it would still be nowhere in the ballpark of the Simpsons. The Simpsons doesn't even aim at realism in any kind of way.

That being said, the characters in GTA4 are of course not completely realistic. They are still archetypes. I just think that they are more realistic archetypes.

Howevetr, I do have to say that Heavy Rain's visual design is very well done.

The extremely strict moderation of their forums is also irritating. But then again I could just be mad at them because I got banned from GameSpot. I had a whole bunch of joke accounts that they found out about.
