I think the joy of John Wick comes from it's execution. It doesn't pretend to be anything else than just a playful, dumb action film. In some ways it's similar to the Expendables series, but it differentiates itself because it has some of the world-building found in comic films. I can see why Dan likes it, because it has similarities to the nonsense of Metal Gear, but without any preachy baggage attached.

Blackadder is a little BBC gem. If you skip the first season (which you can because the plot is non-linear from season to season) you get to watch Rowan Atkinson wittily mock people and satire Shakespeare.
