Wow, and I'm sure that has nothing to do with the fact that the game can be played in local multiplayer with up to three other people who have silver accounts and never paid for the game, right?

We'll get sales info when we get sales info.  Leaderboards mean nothing.

Multiple accounts are not allowed."
How would you know that I personally have multiple accounts?  Perhaps it's just my brother who uses the same computer and chose to use the name "Rich Gallup" when creating his personal account.  By the rules of this forum, what should be wrong with that?

"Since no one owns the rights to a name, specifically a username on the internet, then we can't really force a name change or punish someone for having the name of an industry professional or a similar username to someone else on another website. All we can hope is that other users realise that the imposters are not the real person associated with the name and we can only really punish them if they begin to try and actively pretend to be that person. And really as Lies stated its Joystiq's poor journalism thats caused this story to be posted, they should have really double checked and followed up on the information before posting it. Now they look a little silly to say the least.

"
Right.  Unless the user comes out and says, "I'm Young Clifford from Epic games", then there isn't much that can be done."
It's not a matter of "there isn't much that can be done," it's a matter of what you refuse to do.  This isn't any sort of legal issue here, it's how you choose to run the site.  I have just as much right to post here using the name "Jonathan Blow" (developer of Braid, for those who don't know) as I do to go trolling the 360 forum, but the staff here has personally decided only one of those things is against the rules.  The people who own this site can run it however they want to.  If the staff and mods decided to do so, they could ban anyone who used the letter "z" in their posts, for goodness sakes.  You guys (or at least the main staff) make the rules, so please stop with the "no one owns the rights to a name / there isn't much that can be done" stuff.

With all that said, and even though I still disagree with this policy, I have to say Joystiq was pretty much completely at fault for this.  The fact that they've left the original story up even after it was pretty clear that they were completely wrong, that just makes them look even stupider.  Perhaps tomorrow they can break the news that even GiantBomb user "Batman" lost all his Castle Crashers save data.  I didn't even know Batman played video games.  Ugh.

This is a futile question. No one will admit that they won't vote for a black president even if they wouldn't - especially in a forum like this, where they would be subsequently insulted and downmodded"
I'm not asking anyone here to admit they're only voting for Obama because he's black, or only voting for McCain because it means a female VP.  I'm just asking them to share their thoughts on the issue with a hypothetical question.  If someone mainly votes for Obama because he's black, or McCain for a female VP, does that make them racist or sexist?

Why would Cliff write on GB, as opposed to a site of his own?
That's what I posted as a comment in that review.  The man would just use his blog if he had something to say.  That or a forum that he actually uses, like NeoGAF (who wouldn't put up with this impostor BS for a minute, BTW).

I can't believe Joystiq actually posted this, thinking it was Cliff. That is just... Unbelievable."
And the other day they actually put two hidden "rickroll" links in one of their posts.  I swear, Joystiq is complete shit lately.  I'm sticking with Kotaku.  But still, even if joystiq has their head up their ass, I don't think it's fair to allow people here to use these kinds of names.  It's going to lead to confusion, and it's not fair to the developer.

First the whole thing with assholes here using the forum names of long time gamespot forum members, and now this.  Really might want to rethink this whole "first come first served" policy about the user names, guys.

'CliffyB' defends Too Human from critics

[Update: It seems there's some doubt as to whether or not this review was actually written by Mr. Bleszinski or just some Giant bomb user who took his common online moniker. Either way, the review is still an interesting, alternative look at the game. We're looking into it and we'll update as warranted.]

After so much hype and so many years in development, many were surprised by the lackluster critical reception for Silicon Knights' Too Human. Count among the surprised Epic Games' Cliff "Don't call me CliffyB anymore" Bleszinski, who defended the game from its harshest critics in a recent Giant Bomb reader review.

Bleszinski says he found the game more engrossing than either BioShock or Call of Duty 4, pouring 16 straight hours into it on his first sit down and readying for a second playthrough after a 42-hour quest. While admitting that the story "isn't God's gift to writing," Bleszinski still insists it compares favorably to a lot of other video games. His main beef, though, is with critics who derided the game's combat as too simple simply because they weren't willing to delve into what Bleszinski sees as some complex strategic depth. "It will require some attention to learn," he warns, "If this is too much to ask, do not fret. There is always the Wii." Ouch!

The full review goes into an insane amount of detail on Bleszinski's experience with the game. Check it out if you're interested in a well informed, decidedly different perspective on this epic.

This thread isn't asking if Obama's race will be an asset or a liability, and it isn't asking if you would vote for a black candidate.  You've all completely missed the point.

When you read the thread title, perhaps you thought "that's why I'm voting for him," or "that's what's going to get me to actually vote this time."  My question to you is, if the main reason someone wants to vote for Obama is because he's black, is that racist?  The definition of racism is essentially changing your actions towards someone based on their race, so wouldn't that fit the definition?

If I heard someone saying "there's no way I'm voting for Obama because he's black," I would immediately  consider that to be a racist statement, so shouldn't the opposite be true?  And what about Palin joining the republican ticket.  If someone decides to vote for McCain mainly because it would mean a female vice president, is that sexist?  Is there any difference between the two?

I just get the feeling that a lot of swing voters who wouldn't vote for a white guy with Obama's limited experience, will now do so because he's black.  I also get the feeling that a lot of swing voters who wouldn't vote for another republican ticket after the last eight years will now do so because it would mean a female vice president.

What do you think about the subject?
