Excellent interview, Patrick. Mr. Iwinski's viewpoints are a great example of why DRM is a flawed concept. It just doesn't work and often punishes the legit consumer more than the pirate. It's one of the reasons I support CD Projekt Red every chance I can.

I supported them directly by buying The Witcher 2 on GOG.com day one and they do make it worthwhile with all the extras. I think they even threw in a free copy of The Witcher 1 if I remember correctly (I already owned the retail version, but I welcomed having a DRM-free copy to play). More game companies should follow their example. Sadly, many of those companies are so stuck in their tired, outdated practices that it may not happen for some time.

I am simply stunned by this terrible news. I am utterly in disbelief and part of me wants to believe it's some awful joke.

What a cruel turn of events, especially considering he was just beginning a new life with his wife.

I did not know Ryan personally, but felt like I did as I've been following him and the Giant Bomb crew since the old Gamespot days.

Ryan's personality and passion for video games will be sorely missed on the site.

My sincerest condolences to his wife, family, friends, and the Giant Bomb crew.

Rest in peace, Ryan. We will miss you.

P.S. Matthew, thank you for sharing the news with the community. I know it couldn't have been easy to write this about such a dear friend and colleague.

Was wondering why this was strangely absent yesterday. Maybe I missed it?

Oh, and Patrick effin' Stewart!

Edit: I completely forgot this is also coming to PC. Nice!

So uh, I guess I should cancel my 3 year old preorder for Versus XIII now?

Cause Star Wars games were awesome before this.

Agree. These are three great studios, lets give them the benefit of the doubt.

This.

I know it's popular to hate on EA but as a Star Wars fan, I'm willing to see what they can do with the license. Bioware, Visceral, and DICE are all solid studios. It's not like LucasArts games had a great track record in recent years. Although, I do hope Star Wars 1313 gets resurrected in some form. That did look promising.

I'm starting to doubt the thing will actually be released this year, with how little access outside developers have with the thing and how "recent" the last halo game was.

But I'm really curious as to what that system will even be. I don't think Halo can carry the system on its own again, and they don't really have much in the way of other notable first party studios. I just can't see them pulling a miracle and producing tons of exclusive games out of nowhere like Sony is doing. Everything about the last couple years of the 360 makes it seem like they're pulling out of the hardcore gaming market entirely.

One thing I'm putting money on, they're going to name the thing in such a way that we wish it was called the Xbox 720.

I have a similar interest. I'm curious to see what new "hardcore" AAA exclusives , if any, Microsoft plans to bring out this generation. I don't care if "Durango" can brew my coffee and do my laundry...it all comes down to the games. For most of this generation, MS rode the popularity of Halo, Gears of War, and maybe Forza and Fable.

If their only plan is to shovel out more sequels to those IP's again next gen, then I'll pass. That might be good enough for some folks, but I think I've had my fill. I'd like to see them take some risks and stop relying on the "sure thing". Otherwise, I think Sony may be in a better position with their strong indie developer backing and their first party studios.

Had this game on my radar for awhile and grabbed it for $6.00 with the voucher! I make it a point to visit GMG's site at least a couple a times a week. I've gotten some insane deals on new and old games. Support these guys!
