Theres nothing quite like squatting in a pulsing holy aura surrounded with spinning bibles, flinging blades and fire in a spiral while lightning crashes down on a horde of hundreds of stupid fucking flowers that will kill you almost immediately if they touch you.

Vampire Survivors is the best game I have ever played while not touching the controller. It fucking rules.

@ragtagbag: Ah ok, for the life of me I couldnt figure out how to do it. I somehow missed it in the controls?

I definitely think not having friends playing it is a big part of why I am not enjoying it. That and the pacing just feels off for me. The recent COD beta may have messed up my shooter brain. And I am replaying DOOM 2016 at the moment.... And I installed Titanfall 2 last night.....

@av_gamer:

I played it for a while yesterday, having not played for years.

I have a lot of complaints, but the main ones are:

If you are picking a damage dealer in role que it says 5 mins, for me it was 8 mins twice and then 14 mins. It was roughly a half hour of waiting for about 25 mins of game id say.

If you pick a character who is not self explanatory, there are no in game tooltips describing what the abilities do. Maybe there is and I cant find it? It just dumps you into the match and you have to trial and error and figure it out. I dont have time to practice every single hero and figure out what their abilities do. Just a little tooltip would do it, that's all I need.

It feels slow. Its a slow game. And kind of dull.

All three games were on the same map, which I remember from the last time I played like 3 years ago.

As someone who I would assume they are targeting with this sequel, I feel absolutely zero compunction to return Ill give it one more shot tonight to try a few different heros but I will most likely be uninstalling.

I also have an S, it's one of the best purchases I have ever made.

A lot of people like to gripe about Destiny, but honestly it's an absolute blast to play, runs great, and a good chunk of it is free to play.

Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are both on Gamepass and they are fantastic.

I have played some great rogue lites or likes there too. Hades is on there.

Gamepass has a massive amount of variety. Persona 5 is coming on 20th of October also.

Honestly it's such good value and the offering is huge you will never not have anything to play.

@youeightit: if it means anything, the entire crew was in amazing spirits and the atmosphere was very celebratory all through the bombathon. Not a hint of negativity really.

@trevor_a-train: I assume they will be pushing premium pretty regularly throughout the day. That's what this type of thing is always for.

@sethmode: Ok thanks, that actually sums things up well for me. I will probably keep going with it.

I feel like one of the problems with this game is that the discourse and reviews all seemed very nebulous as to whether it was fun or not. Frankly, one of the more frustrating releases in a long time. I get that games criticism is a personal medium but I think the entire concept of the consumer was abandoned when it came time for outlets to review this game.

This might be a good place to ask this, as I feel this review is aimed at me specifically, i.e someone who has gamepass and never played Deathloop on release....

...I got through a few loops. The management UI seems totally fucking bananas and borderline unusable, and while I am enjoying the exploration I feel like I am abandoning areas wholesale and will only ever just follow the navi pip in front of me.

Is it more linear than it seems? I have read over many reviews etc since release that is is either an emergent gameplay masterpiece, or a linear shooter wearing an open world disguise. Which is it?

@facelessvixen: (Naruto spoilers - Jeff Grubb dont read this) Grandma Chiyo busts out of retirement with her brother to save the Village hidden in Sand, works with the Leaf village (who killed her son) to save the life of Gaara through sacrificing her own. And through all that she was flying nonsensically through the treetops with the best of them. Uses Sakura as a literal puppet to help kick the shit out of that puppet master shitbag. Ultimate anime badassery.
