"Tauren Paladins?

All the races are losing their personality. Blizzard thinks this new "Everything for Everyone" policy is way cool, but I think it is fuuuuuuuuuucking gay. They rape the story and character of Warcraft EVERY SINGLE TIME they make new content. Sure, you all just accept it as "neat, new classes and adventures" but no, man! Its fucking gay!

I mean, why even bother with a story now. Seriously?

I like new gameplay and content. In fact, I wouldnt even care if they just went out and said   "Hey folks, we don't actually give two shits about what we wrote here. All you guys need to know is that were adding some more content. You like that right? Content!"  They have no respect for their own god-damn continuity. Now they just toss away personality whenever it gets in the way of their big, fat unstoppable train. "

Dude, chill out.  This is the biggest effort they've put yet into moving the whole game forward, rather than just everything pre-expansion existing in some sort of perpetual time-lock.  And what's wrong with Tauren Paladins?  Races and alliances change over time.  They shouldn't have to stay the same always.  Most of the class combos they are introducing are perfectly fine and make sense if you really think about them.  There will still be several races who can only be certain kinds of classes anyway.

Oh and also, the writing for WoW's quests is fantastic.  Many people rush to the level cap and miss out on the great, compelling and humorous story-telling that is everywhere in the game.

"I've never played it either. I can't see myself ever paying a monthly fee to play a game and my interest for MMORPGs in general is pretty much nonexistent.

Give me a good single-player RPG with a great story instead Blizzard!
"
Actually that's what I personally love about the game.  It has a great story.  But not just one, dozens, that all tie together.  The writing is fantastic and the art style is highly creative. The monthly fee is the worst part of the game but considering how much content you get, including constant updates from Blizzard themselves, it's justified.  It costs the same to go to a 2 hour movie + popcorn.

The only thing is to control your play time because it is addictive since it is a lot of fun.  I don't feel it's any different than a good console rpg/beefed-up, customizable hack-and-slash with huge multiplayer content.

I chose Fallout over Oblivion as my rpg for my new console.  It seemed geared more to my taste since I'm more of an action/adventure player than an rpg lover, and it was newer, just something that appeals to me when selecting games (why I chose Burnout Paradise over Revenge as well).

At first when turning it on and playing through the initial couple of hours, Fallout 3  did feel disappointedly like a kind of stripped down Oblivion.  I remember spending an hour just messing with my character's facial features in Oblivion at the creation screen, but it felt lame to even bother with it for Fallout.  I also kept sneaking everywhere I went once out of the vault, thinking it'd raise my skill, only to discover this game's experience doesn't work like that.  Not being able to be the "rogue", as I thought at first, bugged me for a while.

Spending more time in the game world has almost alleviated these issues though.  I've already grown more attached to the game world than I was towards Oblivion's, which I played more leisurely. I hated the main storyline in Oblivion and completely avoided it when I restarted my character, when I was playing it at a buddy's house a year ago or so.  But I like the storyline, and quests, so far in Fallout.  They feel compelling since they tend to have pretty big ramifications for the various towns. The voice acting is acceptable, some great characters and some irritating ones (whoever the chick is that runs Megaton's supply shop), but not any worse than it was in Oblivion if I remember correctly.

I'm also so attached the early weapons I've found.  My combat knife has become my personal favorite weapon.  I've had to use it more than a few times to save myself when my pistol and assault rifle ran out of ammo.  It feels more reliable than any of the guns I use because of that, despite the disadvantage of melee range.  Getting my melee skill up, in conjunction with my sneak skill, helped me be the character I enjoy playing as too, which was kind of important for me in any game claiming to be an rpg.

Other than a couple other comments I read about in some reviews, like Fallout having fewer quests and a smaller world, overall the game is very gripping.  I think I'll still get Oblivion at some point, like when I finish Fallout...

I plan on buying one game from each major genre for my new xbox 360, and right now I'm trying to decide on an rpg.  I've already spent the money on some other games and want just one rpg right now.

I bought Oblivion when I got my xbox, but I found a store in Tokyo that sells Asian-region games with English text.  I thought I'd just trade in Oblivion for an English version, but then I noticed Fallout on the stand...and thought it looked cool, so I decided to wait a bit, read about Fallout, and decide which one would appeal to me more.  I'm not that much an rpg player really, and I love shooters/action adventures, so Fallout seemed like it might be better for me.  But Oblivion feels like such a classic, and I've read that it has a bigger world too and more replay than Fallout.  I did enjoy it, as little far as I got, when I played the Japanese text version (I just quit because it was too hard trying to read the text since I know only a little, and felt like I was missing too much...)

Does anyone have any recommendation for either game?

Braid is another one I'd suggest.

game length means almost nothing, depending on whats being charged.

Its all about what you get out of it.

I agree with this pretty much.   I think a true sign of a great game is one you actually feel like going back to again and again over time, regardless of how long it takes you to beat it.  However, I do think there is a sweet spot for single player game length, depending on the genre, and if a game falls below it it can feel too short and become a genuine fault(Beyond Good and Evil is one example I can think of that I played...great game, too short for a platformer/story-driven game).

I bought a points card and chose three games based off of reviews I'd read - Braid, Geometry Wars 2, and Ikaruga.  The first two I hadn't played before, but I owned Ikaruga on the Gamecube.  It's still just as awesome, I just need to train my skills again.
Geometry Wars 2 is cool, pacifism mode being my favorite.  I like almost all of the modes available, except for sequence.  It's too long for me, but maybe sometime soon I'll try to last through every stage.

Braid, though....I sense it could become one of my favorite games that I've played.  There are some rare games Ithat stick in my mind after I've turned off the console and gone to do something else, and Braid is one of them.  Slowly unraveling the story, solving the creative puzzles, enjoying the fantastical/ominous music and atmosphere, and the amusing old school graphics and gameplay elements...I've just found it to be a really absorbing game while I play it.  I didn't think my new xbox 360's Live Arcade would be what I was most happy with, but with games like this it's my favorite part of owning a next gen console so far.
