REALLY hope they're recording on Tuesday 'cause of the Nintendo news that just dropped. If only to get the "it was inevitable" talk out of the way.

I really need to see how this works before I jump in. $250 US is too much for a system I's probably only use to play DS games on for a while.

So far, RB3's brought back a number of old songs I love but hadn't heard in years, like Walk of Life, Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Don't Stand So Close to Me. (I think RB3 has the most music I've known before playing the game out of any music game I've played.) But as to the question of songs I'd never heard, "Last Dance" by The Raveonettes was surprisingly catchy and fun, and acrually catchy enough that I bought it on iTunes immediately after hearing it.

I relented and paid $5 for a month, despite how I felt about this 24 hours ago. I want these sites to succeed, but godammit did they handle it badly.

And how will iTunes work? Do I have to download the second half of the Bombcast from the site and manually add it to my library? If I do that, it doesn't get recognized as a podcast. I hope they know what they're doing.

I don't care about the $5/$50 as much as what it means. I'll let Tycho explain, with some words changed, changes in italics

"It isn't really about five dollars. I have five dollars. It's the tug of the reins I don't like, the steel bit in my jowls which denotes mastery. As I've said, I find the website worthwhile at a few bucks a month... But God damn can I hold a grudge, God damn; and making me resent you is the first step to my courting another ."

Much like some people have decided with XBL, simply don't pay for this if it bothers you. Personally, I'd like it if there was some "$13 for three months" or any other tiering.

Is that 5K subscription thing true? I know I'm lazy and I could just look myself, but could someone point me to it if it is?

" @T_Prime: To be fair, Jeff bought that. He bought it for himself, with his PAYCHECK.  If he wasn't getting a paycheck, he probably wouldn't be working for Whiskey Media.   And to help him continue getting a paycheck, Whiskey Media has to make money. The subscription is one means to do that. "

His PAYCHECK has been funded by their investment capital, something you should not still be relying on 2 1/2 years after launching. They can never say due to NDAs, but if what we all think is the reason they left Gamespot the same reason they don't want to do certain things with Giant Bomb, they themselves should take a look at what they're doing in the first place. Having no one to dictate rules and things they can't say due to ad pressure is nice, but that same mentaility made George Broussard into the internet laughingstock/pariah he became years ago. And like 2K allegedly said to Broussard, I'm saying to GB "why the heck should I give you this money that I can't use better elsewhere?"

"Dude, this is a website about VIDEO GAMES.  Video gaming is a relatively pricey hobby.  You can't tell me that damn near every user on this site doesn't waste AT LEAST $50 on shit that they wish they hadn't bought every year (did you really need that third Hori fighting stick?).  So fucking tired of the mentality that so many idiots on the internet have of "Well, if a business is making money, then they're screwing everyone over!"  This is an effort by Whiskey Media to NOT screw people over by freeing themselves from having to resort to too many ads and sponsorships.  Jesus, these are the same people that have been running the show for years now, and that you say that you're a fan of.  It's not like some new CEO kicked down the door and said "Time to fuck the fans over!"  I admit that the Podcast thing seems a little iffy.  But, throwing a goddamn hissy fit won't make it go away.  If you don't like it, reasonably state why, then evaluate if it's worth you cutting off your ties to the site over.  Act like adults. "

They shouldn't have split the podcast because it feels like a money grab. There. Done. No hissy fit. If they've been unable to make money, they shouldn't be buying the Renegade edition of DJ Hero 1 AFTER buying the regular one at full price.

EDIT: Krakn3Dfx beat me to the DJ Hero reference. Glad that someone else remembers. I always wondered how they made money here, but hearing stuff like that made me think "they're OK." They can't come crying to us for money NOW.

Splitting the Bombcast is bullshit, plain and simple. I just unsubscribed it from iTunes and may not go back this time (I stopped listening in late '08 until early '09, when I bought a PS3). Even Sony isn't dumb enough to take away things that users are used to getting for free, and DO NOT justify it as "I'm still getting it," it's a week late, so no, I'm not. I always listen to the Bombcast the night it comes out and usually listen to nothing else until it's done, something I can't say for any other podcast. Maybe a wait of two or three days would suffice, but even then it would be out of date, so how the hell is a week gonna work? Not to mention that very often, the second half of the show is the better half, and I'd rather not listen than listen late.
You've dropped the ball badly here, GB. You've lost me, and I don't know if I'm coming back.

I REALLY hope the buttons are used and this isn't a Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks monstrosity. Sure, let us use the touch screen for menus and whatnot, like the iron boots toggling, but let me use that nub and those bottons. PLEASE.
