If I have to buy it and there's a monthly fee, I won't understand why there's a monthly fee, but might pay nonetheless.
If it's free "2" play, I will be somewhat upset. I do not want to be constantly reminded (in-game) that there's an in-game store. I do not want to be constantly reminded that I am at a disadvantage gameplay or social wise. Also I do not want the coolest hairs, colors, armor skins, characters, classes to be 10$ a piece, which they will inevitably be.
If I can buy it and just play until some cool piece of DLC or an expansion comes out... I would be very happy.
How much do you trust SEGA not to mess this up? Does it say "mmo" anywhere in the trailer? That'll be our answer. :P
Yes, I am stoked. I have been itching for phantasy star ever since PSU let me down. But it was cool. Kinda. Too grindy. Half-mmo like someone mentioned.
Never a problem with girls at any lan party I ever attended. Publicity stunt maybe?
The original gamers and computer enthusiasts who founded the LAN-party concept have always been MORE than accepting towards the presence of women, even more so in the quality of participant and not simply spectator. It seems that as the term "gamer" is being wrestled away from us (redefined by the likes of Halo, Madden and Call of Duty fans) so are the values and rules of the present-day LAN-party. Though I am sure women will still find most LAN-parties welcoming and even LAN-parties exclusively for women should this trend continue.
Anyway, OP, it's a damn shame and I'm with you. From the original article: "Nothing ruins a good LAN party like uncomfortable guests or lots of tension" but sounds like a shitty LAN-party already. :P
@Ahmad_Metallic: (Sorry for not providing a quote) Even though it's a LAN-party, it will most likely have an internet connection and allow you to play with the person sitting next to you. There are plenty of Starcraft 2 LAN-parties, "events", call them what you want, even though the game offers no local network option. So not only did you embarrass yourself on that front, but also it seems petty of you to try and derail the topic from it's original subject of gender discrimination which is quite a lot more important than if the game has LAN play or not.
@Leakster: Yeah XBOX already a dvd player, music player, media center, movie rental, it's even got internet tv now. Realistically I only have room for 1 portable device when I leave home and I would love it for it to be my DS or PSP, but... it's just not. It's my phone. And my games end up never leaving home.
Here in Portugal, Europe, you can buy the full phone outright and then pick whatever payment plan or company you want. And I wouldn't mind paying the full 300$ for PSV and then have it unlocked. Don't need to buy it for 100$ and be locked into a 2 year contract like you said. But yeah I GET IT, phone industry sucks and that would be the only way to get it.
You mean the psv would be on the phone shelf instead of the game section of the store? Yeah, I could see that. But would it hurt sales, you think? Wouldn't 3x more people get it since it's also a phone.
It's not a phone that's also a game console (like n-gage or iphone), it's a game console that's also a phone. Would be, anyway.
The PSV (I am calling it, that's how it will be known) :P looks so great and the $250 price, WOW, but goddamn I was so expecting it to have phone capabilities! Goddamn.
It already has 3G which I assume will work with a SIM card or phone card or something! How ultra freaking tiny the "phone chip" and the "antenna" must be? It already has a great processor and touch screen and camera and gps and a battery on it, how much does it cost to make it a phone? 5$? There are complete cellphones for 20$ at the store... bleh. :P It would destroy any other phone for me.
Woooah so I'm moving all the videos to a new channel called Scumbag Network. It'll be a Machinima kinda thing, a collaborative channel to where many (or a few) people upload videos to. :) This is a small bump just to update the topic, since the videos currently at the first post are gonna be moved to another channel.
