Couldn't you ask one of the mods to highlight a master blog, where you or someone else gathers some good essays, on the community spotlight section of the front page?
I would be in on this. I was thinking to write a similar topic last month when I started a few essays but then actual school work came and ruined that plan. If I can find my old bioshock essay I would have something to contribute immediately and in a few weeks I should have more free time to contribute regularly. What sort or format are you proposing? Any ideas on page length? Are walls of text ok? I would think a blog series would be most appropriate but maybe if we get enough contributions Dave could factor an idea like this into the next site re-design.
I played through FF9 with my girlfriend and it went well. The game has a two player co-op setting for the combat so you can both play together and it is available for 10 bucks on psn.
@nintendoeats: What about Moby Dick or Symposium? You can't go wrong with Greek philosophers and Moby Dick is just a dense work of impenetrable brilliance.
I feel like some works of literature or philosophy should be in the options somewhere. Not sure what work in particular, but I think the achievements skew towards scientific achievements.
@RazielCuts: You can't just copy games over anymore? That sucks. I would hate to have to download a one or two gig game on a wifi connection. I thought the ps3-psp connectivity was part of the package.
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is a great version of a great game. Also a big memory card for ps1 classic games might be worth it if you like the selection available on psn.
