@golguin: I've played every game except Birth by Sleep and it's been so weird and erratic and spaced-out between releases that I always forget everything, and it's very confusing. It's not a well-told story nor is it a very good story period, and there's a lot of it, and it's way more complicated than it really should be.
With that being said, fuck am I ever pumped for KH3.
There is something incredibly hilarious about Diet Barq's being a punchline. Their complete nonchalence of knowingly saying "it's good" to stuff makes me laugh every time.
I have similar memories of my uncle, the one who introduced me to games. Even as I could see games start to outpace his ability to keep up, he was always trying them. He started me on The Legend of Zelda with Ocarina of time and the last game he was playing through when he passed was Twilight Princess. I still remember him calling me up to ask me questions and get advice from me, even though he had the official strategy guide for it. Back then I thought he was just a silly old man (though he hadn't even hit 50 when he passed, it's funny to think I ever thought of him as old), but now I can see it was his way of staying in contact with me.
It's fantastic that these files exist so you can look back on them, just like you said, as you would a photo album. They're little pieces of her. Thank you for sharing.
So strange hearing them talk about EB as if it doesn't exist. Here in Canada EB is basically the only place to get video games that you can't find at a Walmart/Best Buy. Mind you, we have very few GameStops (which I'm pretty sure owns EB). There are 4 EB's within a 10 minute drive from my house, one of which is across the street from the mall that has another.
It's pretty much the same over here in Australia. I've never seen a GameStop in my life, but we've had EB games for as long as I can remember, except it used to be called Electronics Boutique before GameStop bought them out. I always assumed that our EB's are exactly the same as American GameStops and it's just a regional branding deal.
As an aside, back in the early 2000's when it was still called Electronics Boutique they used to get a lot of grumpy old men coming in looking for diodes and resistors, etc., so I always figured that was why they changed the name.
To add to this, Austin's experience with the multiple EB locations mirrors mine here in Ontario. Our mall had an EB Games on one floor originally and then opened a Gamestop on the other shortly after the buyout. Both of them had the exact same layout except the Gamestop was bigger.
Interestingly enough, the Gamestop closed shop after three months or so (probably sometime in 2012?), but the EB Games is still going strong.
This looks disapointingly average. The cutscenes are pretty fun at least and the art style is nice, but nothing about the way it looks in motion is appealing. Why not mix up some of the traversal mechanics into the combat? Why not have the open world be more than an oversized arena? It just seems so crazy that they focused all of their energy into basic hack'n'slash combat.
Seems like the videos were a little more mixed up than they've been recently. It had a really good pace to it, I was laughing so hard I was sweating. Keep up the good work!
