I recently read a book on the history of the French Resistance during the Second World War and thought that the horrifying moral dilemmas of being a resistance fighter would make for a great game. It sounds like this isn't that game.

There are so many opportunities. This game almost comically misses the point during moments where you just murder soldiers in front of innocents, have regular citizens running in terror away from you, and then having a voice over the radio tell you just how special of a boy you are and how good you're doing at revolting while your Good Guy Meter fills up.

The part where Austin sliced that guy's neck, had the civilian run off in fear, and then seeing the Hearts and Minds meter go up was bizarre.

Like think of it from the civilian's point of view. You're already confused and scared, and then some guy dressed up like a goddamn street punk slithers out from the shadows and straight-slits this guard's throat? That's not "yay revolution!" that's like "holy shit this country is so fucked please let me out of this I want to wake up now."

No matter how many times I watch, it's always funny. Thank you again Ryan for all of the laughs you've given us, and continue to give us.

I have to go to work, but can someone tell me if the remaster does the thing where every single enemy in a room will immediately shoot you a million times the nanosecond they notice you?

I tried playing the Epic Launcher version on Hard and I got destroyed at the first turret sequence because of how accurate and aggressive the enemies were. When I toned it down, I immediately noticed that they were slightly slower to react and much easier to deal with.

No please none of this ludonarrative dissonance talk, please no no no. It's not a good argument against Uncharted and no one cared until the end of Uncharted 2 where that dude said the line and then everyone got hung up on it no please stop I can't deal with this I can't

Really though, I'm glad to hear that they're going a bit deeper into some of the emotional stuff. The wanton murder in The Last of Us was way more off-putting than it ever was in Uncharted, just because they tried to pretend that the world was so realistic and serious and gritty. I'm a sucker for fantastical blockbuster stuff with a real heart to it, and I think that Uncharted has always lacked that emotional core to drive it forward.

@yorkin: If you preordered thinking you were going to have full-ass real video games, then you should probably cancel it. Console launches hardly have video games, let alone a platform with entirely new and difficult problems to solve. You're either going to get a polished slice of gold that lasts you for ten minutes, or a dreary, nauseating, bizarre tech demo that's throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

Aside from a couple games, mostly racing sims and space sims, there's not going to be a lot here for traditional gamers, at least not for a few years.

I just skipped the Push Me Pull You segment, first time I've done that in a very long time. They were just groveling the entire time. Even if they missed the tutorial at the start, it's easy to intuit that you need to push with your head.

@belegorm: that specific criticism is lazy. The game doesn't pretend to be anything other than an action blockbuster, and rarely does that style of entertainment concern itself with ethics or morality. There are legitimate complaints to be voiced about the Uncharted series, but seriously, let's all move on from this one. It doesn't apply.

It looks like a fun game but by absolutely no measure does this appear to be worth 30 dollars. It's only slightly less than The Witness, and although it's challenging it looks extremely simply made.

On the other side of the coin, I give zero effs about The Witness but I'm having a hard time not buying this game right the goddamn now.
