You know you want to, Rare...

I know you feel in inside of you, Rare. Even as you sit there and plug away at your workstations, making little Xbox Avatar outfits and cute little Kinect games, I know it still tears away at your insides. Sure, you sit there and tell us "We don't need to revisit the classics". But you know, deep down in the pits of your souls, you can still hear this song.

Some nights, as you sit there working late, you glance into the empty halls, and you can swear you see the sight of an alluring young woman, clad in green skintight PVC and thigh high stilettos, tonfas in each hand. As the sweat pours down your face, you're almost certain you hear the woman say "My body is ready, Rare."  You shudder for a moment and blink, and as your eyes return to the woman, you find she has been joined by an eclectic assortment of ninjas, mutants, beasts, and an Indian chief. Again, the mantra is chanted. "My body is ready, Rare." Frantically, you shake your head, believing it's all just a bad hallucination. You look again, and the figures have vanished. You are left alone. Alone with your Avatar clothes and unsold copies of Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

You can't deny them forever, Rare. No matter how much you and Microsoft try. Capcom, SNK,  and Netherealm Studios have heard the call to arms, and they have answered.  Why, then, do you hesitate? This is your destiny. Now is the time.

 They are ready.
 We are ready.
 Do it.

Unleash your Killer Instinct once again.

wow i forgot about this game. i remember playing killer instinct at my friend's house all the time. it was pretty fun game. i remember thinking this game had the best graphics for being a SNES game. good times playing that game.

i think rare should release more games. banjo kazooie: nuts and bolts wasn't the best selling game but it was good. i think it was an underrated game. i do believe it was a cheap game that came out, i think it was $40 when it came out. so, start making some games rare.

I hope it's not being made because the series is sort of connected to nintendo. I'm sort of good at that game though, with b orchid, could do a ton of combos and stuff, I want to see a new game, but it won't happen.

Hell yeah, Killer Instinct. I can remember getting Killing Instinct Gold for Christmas, and I played it so much that my thumbs were blistered and all full of puss. Good times.

I feel like the core Rare team that made all those older games are gone and therefore may not satisfy the true fans. However, their team is still extremely talented and that's not to say that new games will disappoint.

For instance, Banjo fans might have been a bit disappointed in Nuts n Bolts. But myself having never played a Banjo game, I think Nuts and Bolts is one of the best platformers I've ever played. And even if I were to play Banjo 1 or 2 I wouldn't change what I thought about Nuts n Bolts. I just think that that team might not be able to deliver on the nostalgia that old Rare has created because fans + nostalgia = impossible to please.

Basically, I think they've moved on which I think is a great thing.

Haha.. I liked the track while reading your post as it went pretty hand in hand.
While I appreciate Killer Instinct and Primal Rage, I kind of hated them.. because they'd suck all my quarters in Arcades, and never had enough money to get good : / (woe is me)

@xyzygy:
It's always nice to see somebody who appreciates how awesome Nuts and Bolts is. Then again, any type of game that encourages creativity is always going to be a plus in my book.

As for the Rare of today, I can accept that they're a different beast with a different agenda. They're responsible for one of the few decent Kinect titles out there, so I'm sure they've got some interesting things cooked up for Microsoft's motion majigger. I just believe that the desire to revive the franchise still exists in the hallowed halls of Twycross, Leicestershire, UK (And Redmond, Washington).  Hell, Ken Lobb himself has admitted it. In my opinion, it's just going to be a question of how and when. And, of course, if it will be any good if they do.

At the very least, I'm sure we'll see an HD port of the originals on XBLA someday.
