I have been hearing good things for the most part about FFXIV, and i am or at least used to be quite fond of the franchise *shakes fist at FFXIII*. It would be interesting to check it out. "I want a Final Fantasy XIV key"
Left 4 Dead is just an attempt to get in on the zomibe phenominom, like countless other zombie games. Left 4 Dead was even refered to by many reveiwers as an expansion pack rather than a sequel. From any other developer, that would be seen as laziness.
You're just saying "a zombie game, how original" without expressing anything in detail. I really like LFD2 because it's visceral, tactile, and the versus mode was interesting. They also were very up front about the negative feedback, and learned from it. Which is why we won't be seeing LFD28 this fall.

Well the pc is not a closed platform. There are other digital retailers like GOG. You are also comparing consoles that are still disc focused with pc gaming. Which has had a minimal retail presence for years.
I often see an air of pretentiousness when it comes to Valve's fans, but not so much from Valve themselves.
That is very much so.
Then why are you blaming that on Valve? They appear consumer friendly, and relatively humble in my experience.
Even after all this time has passed i still don't like ME3. ME2 was my game of the year 2010 so ME3 had a lot to live up to, but it falls flat to me when compared with either of it's predecessors. It just does very little to evoke the feel i want out of a mass effect game. They wrote themselves into a tough spot, and failed to rise to that challenge. Even if i disregarded the ending i still wouldn't call it an ok mass effect game because the overall experience was that much inferior. I wish that wasn't the case, and i dislike the way this game tainted the franchise for me.
Smite and league of legends are my free to play games of choice. I really liked the beta for planetside 2, but it's too soon to tell if it will really hold my attention for long.
