@althox: I love psychonauts but I always felt that intro was kinda cringy. I tried sell my friend on the game and that intro doesn't give it a good first impression.
Half-Life 1 is one of my favourite games and I could play through it all (even Xen) today and still enjoy it. It's probably the first time I felt completely immersed in a video game.
Counter-Strike was my first serious online gaming hole. I played that game for years.
Half-Life 2 was exciting at the time, but everytime I try to replay it I get to Ravenholm and lose interest. :(
Half-Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2 are, as I recall, much more interesting than actual Half-Life 2. Probably because stuff happens.
Team Fortress 2 is nothing special. I've fonder memories of 2fort in Team Fortress Classic with that baller nailgun than TF2.
Portal 1 is amazing and one of the best examples of something you can do in a game that you can't in a book or movie.
Left 4 Dead 1 is the most enjoyable online shooter I've played. Except maybe for Quake 3. Hell, it's one of the most enjoyable multiplayer games I've played period.
Portal 2 is very well made. :|
Left 4 Dead 2 is the most enjoyable online shooter I've played, now with melee weapons.
Dota 2 stole 200 hours of my life. It was all a blur.
Steam sales are amazing, and Steam itself has become a fantastic service.
Nah, I think they're pretty good.
At least you didn't try and defend Portal 2. Portal 1 is fine, although the "cake is a lie" idiots have maybe soured the memories for me. Portal 2 is stretching a 4 hour idea into 14 hours.
I know everybody is all excited to make some moral statement in reaction to Iraq, but just because we may have made the wrong choice there, doesn't mean we should never get involved in anything again.
We should probably just give everyone a copy of Johnny Got His Gun.
This might be crappy advice, but I would look for a rewarding career that has nothing to do with your hobbies. If you can work 8 to 5, make some money, not be poor, and then go home to play/make games or music, I'd take that. Everyone likes music and video games so there's a lot of people trying to make that their career, which drives wages down, increases average hours, etc. I just feel like if you are that ambivalent you'd probably wouldn't do what was needed to succeed in either.
