Civ sounds like a possibility, and I'll definitely look into Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale. I should have been more clear- she's not with me till the end of the summer, so I'm looking for online games we can play together. It doesn't have to be an rpg, etc- just something non-casual, but story driven... that is to say, not a first person shooter.

thanks for the replies... if anyone else has suggestions, please!

Hell, if you could just tell me your favorite online PC games pre-2006, that might work.

I'm looking for some PC games (or even one good one) that I can play with my girlfriend, who's in another city at the moment. Unfortunately they can't be too new, because her laptop is pretty weak... so I guess anything pre-2006 would probably work. I'm looking for story driven games that have a lot of player interaction. She mainly plays RPGs and tactics games, although she's not into RTS's, but also adventure games, etc. Also, we'd prefer something where we play together, not against each other.

Any suggestions would be incredibly appreciated! We tried WoW, and... well, I now remember why I don't play MMOs.

thanks, preemptively!

I doubt this comparison is complete- once I built a Quake map that was as long as the technical limit would allow. There wasn't anything in it, but you could fall for hours before hitting the ground. Where's that on this list?

Be careful! Openoffice is a very dangerous program, akin to a virus. It's commonly used by hackers on Lunix, which means that someone was probably trying to hack your system. Before criminals steal all your data and sell it to the gypsies, I recommend formatting your hard drive, putting your computer in a box, and sending it back to the manufacturer. Just to be safe, I also recommend pulling an appropriately sized bag over your head and sitting in a dark closet while you wait for the situation to be dealt with by the proper authorities.

John Carmack doesn't have the influence he used to, but that man is still a hero in my eyes.

Piracy is bad, mkay, but you have to give the scene credit where it's due- this will allow legitimate customers to illegitimately, but justly, play their game without issues. Proving once again that DRM is only bad for the customer.

" In most games anything under 100 is good. Under 80 is great, under 60 is swell, under 50 is fantastic, under 30 is amazing, and under 20 is Awesome. Unless of course you play Bad Company 2 in which I get 300 ping and feel barely anything.

" What does Ping even mean?  What is it?  I mean I know what it is, it describes the connection of..... stuff.  But somebody fill me in.  AND DOnt Flame me!!! I'll flame back... "

Ping is the number of milliseconds it takes for your input EX: A mouse click, to be sent over the internet to your player. Since 100 miliseconds is 1 second, Pressing a button with 100ping causes your input to happen 1 second later. I believe the movie Gamer defined really well actually. "
Wat. 100 milliseconds is .1 seconds, not 1 second. 1000 milliseconds is a second.
