Doom Eternal is probably the best FPS I've played since Halo: Reach. Doom Eternal feels like what would have happened if id had continued making Doom games in the vein of the first two games. Obviously, it looks much better than those games, but the hectic combat is spot-on. I preferred the story and tone of Doom (2016), but Eternal's gameplay and level design are so much better I couldn't imagine going back to the previous game.
This really is just PUBG with Call of Duty shooting. It seems okay; as a person who enjoys playing PUBG, I'll check it out. Also, PS4 does have H1Z1, which apparently did pretty well on the console.
I like how in-depth this review gets. Being limited to a few hundred words in a written review means a lot of the reviewer's points are either condensed or omitted entirely. Some people might miss the brevity of the old written reviews--they're very digestible--but I think this format is much more informative. One thing I'd like to see added are video/screenshots of the game being reviewed, perhaps in a split-screen format a la Jan's work on Bombcast news stories. I don't want video/screenshots the entire review--it would be too distracting from what the reviewer is trying to say--but maybe just a bit of those to illustrate certain points or just to spice up the review.
