i will endorse the recommendations of Borderlands, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Fable II, because they are either shooters with RPG elements, or lightweight RPGs. you seem to dislike the concept of JRPGs from your Final Fantasy comment, so I would recommend steering clear of any of them (much as I have). You have played Mass Effect, apparently, which is probably a good primer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I, personally, enjoyed Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Two Worlds 2, Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga and Torchlight, so if you think you might like going after tons of loot and concentrating on level progression, I would put these up for your consideration. You may also want to try delving into the world of MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic, although I have no interest in them, myself. None of these recommendations involve controlling multiple characters, which I feel is something that may put off people new to the genre.
