Project Highrise 6,99€ (-65% off). I loved SimTower back in the day, so this should be good.

Oh, and Virginia. I feel a bit bad for not paying full price for indie games, though :/

Haven't you heard? This is the best time to be playing video games.

Look at it this way: The games you don't play will still be there waiting for you later and will be in an even better shape and more affordable than at launch in most cases. They're not ruined. (Except for multiplayer games, if you wait too long.)

@steevl: Actually, it was my entire user profile in the game that got corrupted somehow. I deleted everything in the Saved Games folder, but the same profile got redownloaded on next restart. What happened next was some cryptic error message "MESSAGE TYPE NOT DEFINED" and the entire main menu had disappeared. So your advice, while good info for other games, would probably not have worked in this case, sadly.

This is the most bizzare problem I've had with any game. I was trying to debug the issues with crashes and freezing and hoping the developer console would tell me more what's going on. It ended up corrupting my save game, and also the corrupted save was synchronized to the Steam cloud, so now I can't even play anymore because it keeps downloading the corrupted save.

My only option was to refund the game! (Or so I thought. Is there any way to delete cloud saves? )

I tried running the game in safe mode. Second time playing the game froze instantly for me again as soon as I died in the game... What the hell ??

Edit: Loaded it up a third time to test this out. Boom! Instant freeze 100% on every death in the game. This is insane! It even "hard froze" for me in that I couldn't even get anything to render on top to use the cmd prompt or the task manager (mouse not working). I somehow got the windows menu up to log out, in order to force quit the game.

Edit 2: For some reason, my game had corrupted data files on disk. Solved the freezing issue by doing a verification check on the data files through Steam. Huh, first time in the history of Steam I've ever had to do that ...

@doctordonkey: I don't have any overlocking on neither GPU nor CPU. My game crashes also when I pause the game, and freezes when it tries to reload the level.

As long as I don't die or pause everything is fine. Maybe that's why even the normal difficulty is too hard for most peope, they want you to play on the easiest so you don't die ;-)

I hadn't really heard of any issues with this game. All reviews were positive, or so maybe they were all just reviewing the PS4 version?

This has been crashing and freezing a lot for me. Anyone else having problems with the PC version?

All advice says to update the graphics drivers, but I feel like it's the "latest drivers" that is causing it in the first place. For example, DOOM on Vulkan worked like a charm on the hardware and it's based on the same engine.

I'm running this with a gtx 980 ti, 388.13 driver.

Update 12/30/2017:

I decided to give this game a second chance. Lo and behold, it works! Just finished the game with zero issues encountered. Performance was excellent.

No idea what ultimately fixed it, but probably a combination of patches to OS, drivers, and game. The OS and driver version that is currently working for me: Windows 10 1709 (16299.125), Geforce 388.59 driver.

Try to learn at least a little bit of the language. If you don't, you'll get poor or sometimes no service.

I once learned from a friend in France that if you start speaking in any non-English language first and then switch over to English you'll receive better service. It's when you start speaking in English and assuming they'll be fine with it that's the problem. But learning some French is of course even better.

$74 USD (599 sek) in Sweden. When I looked this up I was surprised PC and console games are sold at the same price nowadays. It used to differ 12-24 usd between them or so from what I can remember (100-200 sek) from previous generations. I'm almost certain console games used to sell at 699 sek (~86 usd) during the PS3 era.
