I'm a PC guy and with Steam and other similar services buying and managing digital games is just sooo easy. Going out to buy or ordering physical copies online seems outdated. I don't want the clutter in my shelves or having to go through stacks in the basement if I want to revisit something.

I may go back to physical copies if bandwidth caps become a thing around these parts.

@ajamafalous:

Ah, well that explains it. Thought there might have been something wrong at my end.

I heard some good things about the first Destiny and decided to give this a chance. I played the beta; the game runs smoothly on my RX 480, looks gorgeous and the aiming feels fantastic. After preordering I realised the PC version will come out almost 2 months after console versions. Crap. Can't wait to play more of this.

Boy, RNG was not nice to me for most of today. I played like 10 matches in which I landed next to other people and by the time I found a pistol someone mowed me down with an assault rifle. Two times I started shooting a dude and they 360 noscoped me with a single headshot. Then got a top 5 with decent gear, after that another 5 matches with horrible luck wherever I landed and then suddenly a tasty plate of chicken.

I landed alone in a cluster of houses next to Pochinki, where I found a VSS, a SCAR with a silencer and a car. So I decided to go safe and silent for this match. The circle was in the north so I drove to the hills next to the northern coast and planted my ass in a bush. There I waited, until the circle was closing in on a gas station by the coastal road. I crawled towards it, taking shots at some players I spotted along the way. Since I've had very little practice shooting the VSS long range I didn't manage to actually kill anyone. I got shot at a lot, but managed to get to a relatively safe spot between the blue and the concrete wall around the gas station. Again I bided my time there, waiting for the rest of the players to duke it out. When I heard the last 2 players fighting each other I ran in and finished the survivor. Not the most glorious victory ever with only 1 kill, but it felt really good after so many bad rounds.

Does anyone else have problems with wins not registering? I've had two fpp wins since the last reset and neither of them show up in the statistics.

@strathy: In combat heroics tend to get you killed. I've managed to get one win while playing spicy and the rest with calm, quiet, "cowardly" tactics. The latter ones tend to be more effective for me at least and I'd rather call it playing smart than playing like a coward.

EDIT: I've already shared my favorite chicken dinner stories in the other thread

Got my first first person chicken dinner today, my fourth win in total. Somehow the FPP win screenshot didn't happen, but it was a pretty boring round anyway. I Killed a player in the beginning of the round by finding a gun before him. Then didn't see anyone until it was just me and another player. He got up to run to the next circle and I killed them. Pretty uneventful.

The screenshot is from my personal favourite win. Like the latest win, I didn't really see anyone before the end with under 10 people left. I got 4 pretty clean kills with a silenced UMP and then gunned down the last player with my AK. One of those rare moments in this game when I really felt powerful.

My second favourite round I didn't even come close to winning, but shot 4 people with a silenced Uzi. That little thing's a beast with the right mods.

25 hours so far and I've only played solo. Definitely worth the price.

I'm currently at book 15 of the Horus Heresy series. It has stayed entertaining for about 14 more books than I expected.

In between space marines and bolters there's occasionally a need to take a break from the grim darkness of the far future, where there is only war and read something a bit less grim and dark.

So I read through Mostly Void, Partially Stars, which is Welcome to Night Vale in a book form. I enjoyed the other Night Vale book and this one doesn't dissapoint. The stories of Night Vale are absurd and funny in a way that I really appreciate.

I also read through Yahtzee Croshaws latest "Will Save The Galaxy For Food". Good, but not great. It had some great moments and I still really enjoy Yahtzees style and wit, but I felt like something was missing. It felt like there was always one more gear to shift to, but the story refused to go there.

After 17 hours and several top 10s I got to taste the chicken dinner.

This run didn't start especially well. I was distracted and got thrown out of the plane in the northeastern part of the map next to a huge hangar where i found nothing but a shotgun. I started running towards better looting grounds expecting to be shot at any second. That happened, but I managed to kill the assailant and took their assault rifle. I kept feeling I'll die any second but managed to kill 3 more guys that got the drop on me. After getting some halfway decent gear(backpack, lvl 1 vest, lvl 2 helmet, UMP9 as a secondary and some grenades) I rode a motorcycle to a small house that ended up being almost at the center of the circle. Had to exit the house with 2 others remaining. I slowly crawled up the hill next to the house and managed to finish off one of the remaining players. Then I spotted the last one in cover next to a tree and crawled until I was in range to toss a grenade next to the tree and started shooting when the duder bolted. He got some shots off, but I managed to kill them first with very little health left.

Man, that was exhilarating. I haven't been that excited about a video game in a while. Really thought I was going to have a heart attack during the last minutes of that run.

Video Buddy has been a bit crashy for me lately, so I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks!
