Obviously I was joking, I was pointing out the fact that if I went and yelled that out I'm sure any African Americans would take offense. So why is ok to say "I'm going to rape that bitch" when there are women in attendance? Obviously I think that the guy saying that sexist comments are just part of the culture is fucking stupid. Everyone should be able to go and compete and not be uncomfortable.

That sounds like some bullshit. If I was you I would do it and not bitch but at the end of the semester when and if they do teacher reviews I would give him poor marks. If he assigned it during class as homework then fine, but to email students with assignments due the next day is a bit harsh. Students are not on call 24/7.
