I can agree with the point that it's easy enough just look up the price of a game while you're watching the video, but for me, that's only half of the problem. The reason I watch quick looks is because I respect the opinions of the GB staff. I want to know what they think of the games they play, and that includes their thoughts the price. When the QL runner doesn't know the price of the game they're playing, how can I know if they think it's worth that price?

http://bellroy.com/wallets/

These guys make great, very cool, very functional and fashionable wallets, a bit on the expensive side(for me at least) but it didn't stop me from picking up the "hide and seek" wallet late last year. Accidentally laundered it a while ago, and it's none the worse for wear, which is surprising for leather.

This is just one of the consequences of having a singular(sorta' =/), cross fiction universe. Some things just break down when you think about them too hard lol.

IMO there are two answers to this question, fictional and practical(read: boring)

My FICTIONAL answer would be that superman is NOT the ideal candidate for these "chosen one" powers and wouldn't be chosen.

As for your two examples:

Hal Jordan:

A green lantern ring chooses it barer based on their willpower, not their kindness, empathy, or dedication to truth, justice and the american way. Haj Jordan has more willpower than Supes so the ring chooses him

Capt Marvel:

Superman as a candidate for SHAZAM's powers fits a bit better, kindness, empathy, justice, etc. But there is also a supernatural element involved here, and everyone knows superman is weak to magic.

lol, seriously though, this can be hand waived by some mystical "Fate" BS. Superman simply isn't the "Right" person, for whatever reason. maybe there would come a time when Billy Batson is more "Gooder" than superman? Being a child at heart (literally) means he see's the world in more of a black and white sort of way. Good Guys and Bad Guys. Something is ALWAYS right or ALWAYS wrong. where as superman, would have a more conflicted view of the world.

The Practical answer of course is that these characters have origins outside of the interconnected DC universe. most of them started in their own books or appeared in one other hero's book as a side character. when they were created there wasn't the potential problem of them ever running into eachother. or even existing on the same planet. Most of the time in what i read(at least what i think is good) most characters exist in their own little worlds anyway, metaphorically speaking, unless the writers deem otherwise of course.

I actually have a question about NG+ too, sort of unrelated but since the topic is called NG+ question I may as well ask. What happens if you go in the stargate in NG+? I accidentally went into the stargate room and I can't exit through the door (glitch?). If I go through the stargate will I just see the ending again then start another NG+?

Yes. I accidentally did the same thing. The 32-cube door is basically the end of the game. You'll have to climb to the top, watch the ending again and start a new NG+.

Haha, I did that too. After watching that ending twice, I feel like I'm tripping balls.

Put me down as another person who accidentally did this.

I didn't do it on accident, I did it on purpose. I was like hmm wonder what happens when I do that again.

I did this too, accidentally. But instead of watching it again, I quit out and selected "start new game(not +)" from the main menu, and accidentally my whole game D=

Lost all my cubes I'd gotten so far... I got to keep the glasses effect at least...

Alright, this is the best arguement for Meowth as a character page I can think of.

Context is everything. a character can exist in a game merely as reference to an entity outside of that specific game(or gaming entirely)

You cannot simply disregard the Pokemon series, it's existence is intertwined with the game series by means of characters, locations, concepts, ect. Misty is a character in the show and in the games, and her character page is indicative of that, referencing aspects from the show because they give context to the character from the games

Similarly the Abraham Lincoln page is mostly about the historical figure. Abraham Lincoln appears in many games as only a representation of the historical figure: Civilization, the political machine, Catan and other similar games. Imagine Abraham Lincoln had not existed, these references would be meaningless. The existence of this figure outside of the games gives context to the IDEA of the character in the games.

Meowth is a character from the Pokemon animated series. He has been included and referenced in various video games. That makes a Meowth a character that has been in video games, and deserving of a character page.

tl;dr Meowth = Abraham Lincoln

=P

Again though, the character page exists purely on the strength of the anime character and the anime brand. There's no reason why it can't be a footnote on the concept page. The "character" only exists in the anime, and is only named "Meowth" so children would have a reason to remember the names of all of the pokemon and spread brand awareness. In the Pokemon channel appearance, he's basically k.k. slider. And that's cool, but if k.k. slider were named "dog," and appeared randomly throughout all other animal crossing properties as "dog," and it was made clear in the games that it was a species, all named "dog," all identical with no unique characteristics, the k.k. slider page would not be named dog (character) alongside a dog (concept) page.

Hmm... I think i'm starting to see your point. also i was not aware we had concept pages for EVERY pokemon. You're right that all of Meowth's info could be contained in the meowth concept page. Still, it feels off to just completely disconnect the games from the series like that... especially given the (M)eowth exisiance in the games i listed above...

Does anyone have examples of a TV or Film character bleeding over in a similar way?

This is also completely disregarding the fact the animated Team Rocket trio, of which (capitol M)eowth is a member, are featured in yellow. Even if that meowth is not "special" in mechanical terms, it IS (capitol M)eowth. He is jessie and james' pokemon.

I'd just like to clairify this statement. I simply mean that a character can represent another character from another work, without explicitly being labeled as that character.

For example, jumpman from Donkey Kong, IS, Mario. He is not named Mario. He is not part of another Mario games' story or cannon. Bur he embodies and represents (admittedly retroactively) Mario.

The fact that Meowth in yellow does not build robots, or make snarky quips, or even exist cannonically with the television Meowth does not dispute the fact that he is meant to be the specific character "Meowth".

Aside from the Pokemon Puzzle League example already given there is also:

Meowth in Pokemon Channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmcUP68uCQ8&feature=related

Meowth in Melee as trophy. Notice the description references Pokemon Channel

http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Meowth

Pokemon Zany Cards

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Zany_Cards

for the Pokemon Mini

http://www.giantbomb.com/pokemon-mini/60-134/

No idea WTF this shit is... But it's a game, and it's got Meowth in it

(info from Bulbapedia, i found the links, google is my friend)

This is also completely disregarding the fact the animated Team Rocket trio, of which (capitol M)eowth is a member, are featured in yellow. Even if that meowth is not "special" in mechanical terms, it IS (capitol M)eowth. He is jessie and james' pokemon.

This is also ALSO disregarding the fact that pokemon the show is BASED ON the pokemon game series. That in my mind is enough to grant Meowth a page on this site.
