@redking56:My mistake, thanks for clarifying. I couldn't remember which editor was which either, so I just omitted any names.
@neely: The truck driver? He's super dead. As far as I'm aware, the "DUDE MY TRUCK" line was a TV censor implying that he didn't die that somehow made it onto the bluray releases.
For those who don't know, this part of the story is well known for the interference Toriyama got from his former editor. Androids 19 and 20 were supposed to be the evil androids from the future all along, but when they were revealed, the editor called Toriyama to say "What, an old man and a fatso? Make more intimidating villains". That resulted in the plot moving onto 16, 17 and 18, but when the editor saw them, he called again to complain saying "now they're just a bunch of children". That led into Cell's introduction, and the editor called once more to say "he can transform, right?".
It's pretty sad when the only defence I can muster for Yamcha is that he got the short end of the stick so often in Dragon Ball, Z and Super (I don't even remember if he's present in GT) that it's more reasonable to pity him than outright despise him.
I'm glad they still like Krillin though. I was worried about that for a sec.
Just one point to address: it has not been a year since the Dragonballs were last used. In fact, it has only been about a month and a half since the fight against Nappa and Vegeta. Remember, the spaceship Krillin and the others came on took about 30 days to get to Namek, and Goku's ship took 6 days to get there.
The U.S version of Dragonball Kai is probably the worst kind of Dragonball experience ... but I'm glad you do it, it's just fun to listen to how you celebrate Dragonball.
Ps: The U.S DB: KAI Soundtrack is just awful ... = (
You're seriously misinformed: there is no "US Kai soundtrack". The Kikuchi score replaced the Yamamoto score globally, including in Japan. The final two or three episodes even aired on Japanese TV with the Kikuchi replacement score already in place, so we never heard those episodes with Yamamoto's score in them.
Jeff getting bored with the Freeza vs Goku fight makes sense, because watching this again as an adult I was getting bored as well. Still though, great shit coming up. Next episode should be fun!
Yeah, and while I don't want to be one of those guys, I can't believe anyone would still recommend the original DBZ over Kai. I mean, does anybody really want to see Goku stand there charging the Spirit Bomb for three entire episodes?
