They're watching the version of Kai with the Kikuchi score. Placement is an issue, but you should be aware that the show was very quickly altered after the plagiarism scandal came to light (which was while Kai was nearing the end of its broadcast in Japan - I believe the final two episodes had their BGM altered at the last minute.)
So basically, Jeff and Dan are getting the Kikuchi treatment, and it seems like there was at least one point where Jeff mentioned that he really liked the "music stinger" which accompanied Goku's arrival on the battlefield.
That Goku vs Vegeta fight is one of the best in the entire series. I had to go back and watch it after listening to this. I know they're watching the English dub which is totally fine but man, that Japanese ost is so epic. Jeff mentions he likes the look of OG Gundam, if he likes the music too he'd probably dig the OG DBZ score.
EDIT: Ok, I looked up a clip of the Kai version of the fight and immediately noticed that the music used in the Goku vs Vegeta fight is one of Shunsuke Kikuchi's original pieces but it was the wrong piece, one originally used much later in the Buu saga. I started looking into into and apparently they tried to rescore Kai with a different composer who was eventually let go due to plagiarism, at which point they brought the OG score back in but apparently they used re-inserted into different places from the original version? I'm now thoroughly confused. Here's the original scene from DBZ below compared to the Kai version for reference:
Oh boy, I didn't get to hear this on TV myself since we got the Ocean Dub in the UK for the Cell and Buu arcs, but if you want to see a potentially offensive portrayal of a black person in DBZ, check out how they portrayed Killa in the original Funimation dub.
@danryckert@jeff Some of you already know this but since most of you are new to DBZ, I'll say this Mr. Popo is not a Black person, he represents some kind of Genie and just happens to be colored Deep black. Here are some examples of portrayals of black persons in DBZ
The original Dragon Ball scene where it was shown that he could regrow his arm was way more metal about it, and I believe it is required viewing for all people.

Krillin is best boy and 2nd best dad
This was the point of the series where Toriyama had no idea what to do with Krillin, and thankfully he wrote him back into relevance with the second half of the Saiyan arc and the Freeza arc. I imagine Jeff and Dan will feel better about him after seeing Krillin as a main character, not just background fluff.
RE: Yamcha, Tien, Krillin and Yajirobe (weird samurai dude)
These were all characters who were introduced in Dragon Ball, mostly as rivals to Goku.
Yamcha was introduced first as a desert bandit who was out to get the dragonballs first to wish to get over his fear of girls. He no longer needed to after he got used to being around Bulma, who became his girlfriend.
Krillin was introduced next as Master Roshi's (aka the Turtle Hermit and Muten Roshi) other pupil, and friendly rival to Goku. He and Goku became fast friends through their training under Master Roshi, but as Goku grew older and stronger, Krillin fell to the number 2 position. He never let it bother him too much and kept his training up.
Tien (Tenshinhan) was introduced as the student of Master Shen (the Crane Hermit) who is the rival of Master Roshi, and who trains his pupils to become assassins like his brother Tao Pai Pai (who was killed by Goku during the Red Ribbon Army arc). Though Tien fought both Master Roshi and Goku during the 22nd Tenkaichi tournament claiming that he wanted to become an assassin, he grew disillusioned with the Crane Hermit's style and learned that he valued honour as a martial artist over revenge.
Yajirobe was introduced as a random samurai in the wilderness who picked Goku up after Krillin was killed by Demon King Piccolo. He doesn't like to train or anything but he's pretty strong. He hangs out with Karin (Korin) at Karin Tower since he grows senzu beans there. Karin Tower is directly beneath Kami's Lookout.
RE: Dinosaurs
The Earth presented in Dragon Ball/Z/Kai is a fantasy land. There is only one world government and one King (a dog), dinosaurs are around for some reason, humans include all kinds of half-animal hybrids, and there are gods and demons aplenty (Kami and Piccolo being the God/Devil counterparts early on, then there's King Yama, King Kai, etc).
Ben...Ben please stop spoiling Dragon Ball. You're not remembering most things correctly anyway. You're Dragon Ball knowledge is really just not as great as you might think lol. Also, Goku Black is a very recent character. His arc really only just began in the english release of Dragon Ball Super like last week. The reveal that you spoiled won't be aired for at least another month or two.
I know Dragon Ball isn't the most popular thing in the world, but would you read the wiki of Stranger Things or Game of Thrones and just announce all that you've read on video?
