a lot of information that seems to have not made it into the article ( no offense Jeff I just want to make sure people understand for example that Steam takes a 75% cut lol supporting modders my ass).

no, you are incorrect. read the actual legalese (i've underlined the pertinent bit so you can't miss it):

Revenue Share for Paid Distribution of Contributions. If your Contribution is distributed for a fee (whether in-Application or via the Steam Workshop), you may be entitled to receive a portion of the Adjusted Gross Revenue (as defined below) that is collected for the Contribution. The percentage of Adjusted Gross Revenue that you are entitled to receive will be determined by the developer/publisher of the Application associated with the Workshop to which you have submitted your Contribution (“Publisher”), and will be described on the applicable Workshop page. Valve will remit payment of any revenue share to which you are entitled in accordance with directions from the applicable Publisher, and in accordance with Valve’s payment procedures. Generally, payment is made thirty (30) days from the end of the calendar month in which the Adjusted Gross Revenue was received. For reasons of fraud protection, no payment is made earlier than ninety (90) days after the initial copy of a Contribution is distributed. For available payment methods and associated minimum transfer amounts, please see the FAQ page.

so 25% to modder (as determined by Zenimax), some percentage to Valve (the popular estimate seems to be 30%), and the remainder to Zenimax (using the aforementioned estimate, that would make it 45%).

is that 25% to the modder still low? i'd say wholeheartedly yes. but to claim steam takes 75% is to spread misinformation.

You don't actually know so why are you bothering to correct me? You don't know if Zenimax is making anything off this or if they are what the amount is. It's an assumption. The point was that modders are only getting 25%. Who cares where the rest is going? It only matters that 75% of it isn't going to modders and clearly the whole thing is setup to benefit Valve. If Zenimax wanted to make money off modders they could have just charged a flat fee for the Creation Kit but that was never their intention.

I'm just going to leave this here since it pretty much says everything I want to say on this subject and it also contains a lot of information that seems to have not made it into the article ( no offense Jeff I just want to make sure people understand for example that Steam takes a 75% cut lol supporting modders my ass).

I am a modder. Valve, charging for mods is a bad idea. Very bad

It's crazy. I was just watching a video review he did for Pokemon Diamond back when with Gamespot the other day. I'm going to miss that man.

The format for these press conferences is nauseating. It's just another reminder of how out of touch these companies are with their customers and just how bad they are at communicating with the press.

Here is how this should have went down.

1. Show console (at least they did this)

2. Talk about features (just a quick run down demos can be shown at E3)

3. Give a list of full specs (notate next to specs that aren't finalized or could change)

4. Give a list of launch titles (got this part right even if partial)

5. Show actual gameplay demo of one launch title (not a game trailer even if it is rendered in-game)

6. Open up the rest of the time for QA from the press (this way the real questions people want to know get brought up even if MS can't answer they need to know what people are really interested to know)

PS4 is really more appealing to me right now though. I couldn't care less about any of the features the Xbox One has. I don't watch TV. I don't give a fuck about fantasy football. I don't use Skype because I have a cell phone like pretty much everyone else does. I don't like motion controls or the kinect (PS4 will have the eye yeah but it's never going to be as integrated with the system as kinect is with xbox plus I have a feeling it will be optional unlike kinect) I don't care about any MS exclusives except for Forza which I can live without thanks to Gran Turismo. I don't need gimmicky voice command bullshit that is susceptible to input from other people who might be in the room . I don't need a console that runs more than one app at the same time because there is this thing called a PC. I only need it to play games. That's it.

I'll be honest though I pretty much use the PC for everything. All my friends are on Steam as well as 90% of my games. It seems like the Xbox One wants to be a PC and will probably cost just as much as one but won't be as good. You'll have to deal with advertisements and xbox live and all the other shit that comes with a proprietary system/network. No thanks. Not sure who this is even marketed at if the price tag is over $500. The console also looks like a VCR :D

There is just nothing compelling about the game. The classes are dull and while the voice over was a nice touch it becomes overkill when you have every quest giver doing it. I thought I would like a fully voiced game but honestly it would have been better if only the class quests and flashpoints were voiced. Everything else seems unnecessary.

I think the biggest failure of the team that made this game is that they didn't test the market enough before they started working on the game. They didn't seem to really know what their target audience wanted and still don't. They definitely put effort into it but it just seemed like the effort was coming from what they felt made a good MMO and not what their players felt. That kind of design philosophy works on a single player game which is what Bioware has been good at but doesn't work for a MMO.

At this point I'd welcome a really good sandbox MMO.

Clearly BofA is worse than EA but BofA is a bank. Last time I checked everyone hated fucking banks and this is not the first time BofA has been on the list. We know they suck. We also know that other companies suck too though and I see this as nothing more than consumers giving EA the finger and reminding EA that there are limits to what is and isn't acceptable business practices in this industry. Just because they were voted the worst this year doesn't mean they are the worst of all time.

The problem with Mass Effect 3 is that the ending is nothing but polarizing for the sake of being polarizing. It also resolves absolutely nothing. It despicably leaves the player hanging so they will buy the next game in the series when ME3 was supposed to be the final chapter in this particular story. It's anything but final. There is no resolution. In addition to being assholes just for the sake of being assholes Bioware also insults our intelligence when the explanation is given for why the reapers exist and why life get's wiped out every 50k years. I am not going to give it away but let me just say that if I was the writer on this and I had to think of the most illogical and completely nonsensical reason to kill almost all life in the galaxy this would have been right at the top of the list.

For me, it's not about getting some happy fucking ending where every thing is rainbows and sunshine, it's about getting some real answers for what the hell I've been fighting to save the galaxy from these past 3 games because by the end of ME3 I still didn't have the answer, reapers or no reapers. They may as well have replaced the final score with Rick Astley's ""Never Gonna Give You Up". At least then I could have laughed along with Bioware.

Hmm Sony is basically going to advertising the Xbox brand with every PC they sell.

The irony of this is almost too good to be true.

In Case You're Wondering Why There Are No Porsches in Forza 4, it's Because of EA and Porsche
