I haven't finished the game yet but so far I feel Conroy's voice acting has been solid - maybe not as good as his best moments on Batman: The Animated Series or Justice League - but good.

Although I like Bale's performance in Nolan's Batman reboot films, and his portrayal is far superior to Clooney, Kilmer, and Keaton, for me Conroy's Batman in Dini and Timm's DC Animated Universe is the definitive Batman.

I think part of it might be an age thing - I wonder what the ages are of the members of the giantbomb community who posted to this thread. Batman The Animated Series was a popular series during my childhood.

Part of it is Conroy's impressive range. HIs Batman could not only be a badass a la Bale's Batman but also display a great deal of vocal warmth or humor - an asset given DC Animated Universes target of both juvenile and adult audiences.

I think the art direction of Batman Arham Asylum and specifically the model for Batman syncs well with Conroy's voice. It was very jarring in Batman: Gotham Knight during the Field Test segment to hear Conroy's voice attached to a very lean, anime, almost androgynous character model. Rocksteady's character model for Batman is muscular, solid - really in the spirit of his potrayal in the comics - and really syncs well with Conroy acting.

P.S. I would say that I love Arleen Sorkin's Harley Quinn but that character model was way too extreme for Sorkin to reuse the same pitch and tone as the DC Animated Universe. I know Rocksteady was going for a grittier look but I would have preferred they either A) present the character similar to the comics/animated universe or B) found a voice actor that complimented the vision they were trying to achieve - oops sorry tangent there!

@demonbear: Woa thanks for posting these, Demonbear. They are really awesome videos. It must be tough be a voice actor on some of these games when you really have to imagine your surrounding and the scenarios involved.

Not sure if anyone else had posted this previously.

Apparently,  Gore Verbinksi has dropped out of directing the upcoming Bioshock film adaptation (he will be a co-producer).

Instead Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, whose only internationally-released movie was 28 Days Later, will be directing the movie.

I loved Bioshock the game. I was a little nervous when I heard they were trying to bring it to the big screen - how do you shrink 10 - 12 hours of gameplay into a 2 hour movie. Now I'm just disappointed. Nothing in 28 Days Later leads me to believe Juan Fresnadillo is up to the challenge.

<fingers crossed>

Yes.

Giant Bomb is my #1 destination for video game commentary. I love the podcast and the videos.

If it wasn't for Zero Punctuation, I would never go anywhere else for video game content.

....Zero Punctuation + Giant Bomb team-up in the future??? Even Superman and Batman need to join forces occasionally.

I just played the demo.

It looked really generic but felt unique due to the time periods involved and the humor from your R. Lee Ermey-type mentor. I don't think I could spend $50 Xbox price or $40 PC price for the game. It doesn't seem to bring enough new to the table to warrant that much given the competition (Batman Arkham Asylum comes out in two weeks).  Hopefully Steam will discount it eventually.

It reminds me of my first impression of Timeshift. I thought it was fairly generic with its "any other FPS" + "TIVO like controls" but it was still mindlessly fun enough to play through.

P.S. The reload mechanic in Darkest of Days isn't anything new. It's the same concept as active reload in Gears of War.

okay, in that case, yes, i would be okay with a game red ringing my xbox 360 temporarily. I'm patient enough to wait 30 seconds before assuming something is really wrong with my console. Plus I save regularily so if i did restart in a panic i would get too pissed off.

1) i think dead space was awesome - awesome! - but i never thought of if as a mind fuck. It had plot twists but I would really like a game to break the 4th wall like eternal darkness did. Either an eternal darkness sequel or some other IP.
