If you want to be technical, I'm fairly sure that the XM8 was still in testing in the military when the original was being made. So, they just carried it over.
@SpikeSpiegel: Exactly. All the Halo haters here complain that they've been getting the same Halo all the while and when finally, there seems to be a nice change in the gameplay, they bitch even more.

@Jayross: Technically, I am pissed about the overall score as well as if it were not for the ridiculously low scores (by comparison) on the Sound and Graphics departments, Bad Company 2 definitely would have gotten higher!! the folks at DICE deserve more credit than this.
