Probablly the best example of a good game that noone played.
Psi-Ops is a game where you control a character with latent psychic abilities including the power to lift, throw, scout areas ahead of him, set people and objects ablaze, and control the actions of other people; all with his mind. This game went largely unnoticed maybe due to poor advertising. The controls are ultra tight, the psi powers control like a dream and the weapons are very easy and satisfying to use, especially when used in combination with the psychic powers. One of the games finest moments is the first time you use telekinesis to lift a confused soldier into the air and then blast away with a sub machine gun into his helpless body.
However, the story in Psi-Ops while not terrible doesn't seem up to par with most of the other well know shooting games on the market. It relies heavily on flashbacks and amnesia to account for the training and tutorials in the game. Personally, I feel this is a great way to introduce players to new gameplay mechanics because I was getting a little sick and tired of controlling rookie soldiers who all of a sudden become unstoppable war heroes.
It is a shame that this game didn't get the attention it deserved, because it offers one of the best experiences of the last-generation of gaming. I recommend this game VERY highly because it is an excellent and memorable experience.
