Probablly the best example of a good game that noone played.

Psi-Ops is a game where you control a character with latent psychic abilities including the power to lift, throw, scout areas ahead of him, set people and objects ablaze, and control the actions of other people; all with his mind. This game went largely unnoticed maybe due to poor advertising. The controls are ultra tight, the psi powers control like a dream and the weapons are very easy and satisfying to use, especially when used in combination with the psychic powers. One of the games finest moments is the first time you use telekinesis to lift a confused soldier into the air and then blast away with a sub machine gun into his helpless body.

However, the story in Psi-Ops while not terrible doesn't seem up to par with most of the other well know shooting games on the market. It relies heavily on flashbacks and amnesia to account for the training and tutorials in the game. Personally, I feel this is a great way to introduce players to new gameplay mechanics because I was getting a little sick and tired of controlling rookie soldiers who all of a sudden become unstoppable war heroes.

It is a shame that this game didn't get the attention it deserved, because it offers one of the best experiences of the last-generation of gaming. I recommend this game VERY highly because it is an excellent and memorable experience.

I totally agree with you.  I think it kind of came out early summer with very little or no press behind it.  I remember seeing a preview somewhere in a magazine for it and then went onto Gamespot to look it up and saw it was coming out like a week later.  I think I picked it up for $40 and totally worth the money.

Everything was done really well as far as powers.  You didn't feel too powerful nor did you feel like you were being constantly backed into a corner.  The game also kept a good pace and didn't make you hunt around for a key in some corner or side room to move on.  Everything was pretty straight forward.

Here it is in very few words: Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a must play game for ANY and ALL fans of action-adventure games. It's a one of kind experience that really rewards creative play. You play the game as Nick Scryer, a psi-agent who has had his memory erased. He has great, untapped, psychic abilities that he is unaware of and as the game rolls out, these powers are regained and so too are his lost memories. As he regains his true identity of course he wants to seek out and stop the...
