    Red Dead Redemption II

Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Oct 26, 2018

The third game in Rockstar's Wild West-themed series is a prequel to the events of Red Dead Redemption, returning to the open-world action of its predecessor.

I guess there's finally a big patch for this

That's according to Rock Star themselves. It's one of the longer patch notes you'll see outside of World of Warcraft, but then I guess it's been like 10 months since they did anything to it?

Fixed an issue that caused Cinematic Camera letterboxing to become stuck on some PC systems with multi-monitor or ultrawide display configurations

    Nice!

Wow that sure is an impressive patch list. Full props to them for listing all that out. I look forward to seeing how great this game will look on pc in a couple years when it is cheap enough for me to buy it during a sale.

The most exciting bullet point for me is "Fixed numerous issues that caused game crashes, freezes and other stability problems". I recently picked up this game for PC and it's the most unstable game I played in recent memory. The game seems to have mid-mission checkpoints but no mid-mission saves, so you have to restart the mission every time the game crashes and it's insufferable.

So no further fixes to HDR? That's unfortunate. It's still not great at HDR despite the improvement from the previous big patch that had HDR Game settings.

I don't give two licks about RDR Online but I'm still plodding through the singleplayer and reading that the weapons locker from Online is now in Story is fantastic.

@ntm: I wondered the same thing. It's still such a bummer that they lied about HDR and then half-assed it.

I am constantly baffled at how well Rockstar's online services side does. The last time I played RDR2 online was about 4 months ago and they *still* had an issue where you likely can never put your camp down, but still get charged for it as if it's down as the game will act as if it was placed, just not actually place it. Instead, to put a camp down, you have to start a mission so you are instanced and then suddenly you're able to, which means its likely an issue with overcrowding on your server. This has been an issue since day 1.

Also the weird "hey the vendors totally ignore large parts of the map so you should probably never go hunting anywhere but near a town" disincentive to actually explore the game. It's such a garbage implementation of a great idea.
