I personally would love to see another Red Dead game, but with a different character and time/place. One of my concerns is that because this game takes place as the west is dying, then their is no real progression but then again their is a Grand Theft Auto series by the same dudes who always have a different story to tell about mobs/gangs/mobsters/gangters/gangstas

Do you want/Should their be another Red Dead game?
" Just give us GTA5 in NYC. I don't care about Agent or that LA game, just give us what we all want. A proper GTA game with a much better Liberty City. Rockstars needs to focus on the modern day setting, I hate Westerns. "what rockstar NEEDS to do is Bully 2.
and also another GTA in NYC? really? you can't think of ANY other city?

Agreed. I would love another Red Dead game if they could make it as fun as Redemption. Would also love to see a second Bully game as well, if Rockstar can get around to it." Yeah, as long as it's good. "
I want one seeing open world westerns are hard to come by.
Red Dead or Gun i don't care i just want more open world western games.
I think Red Dead Redemption did everything they needed it to do and they probably shouldn't revisit the West again. Hopefully they'll go out and do something different, like they originally did with Red Dead Redemption, instead of just relying on "another GTA set in the old West because the last one was good." Plus they'd never top the ending, so I say quit while they're ahead.
"and also another GTA in NYC? really? you can't think of ANY other city? "I hate the West Coast, and hate that liberal culture there...so I'd be pissed if the next GTA was around there. NYC is the perfect city, it has everything and if they can do a proper 1:1 scale of it...I'd be happy as anything. NYC just works, sorry but it does.
" @Azteck said:I played it, yeah. And I had a lot of fun with it, it's in my top 3 for last years GOTY. I'm just kinda tired of the GTA formula, It worked for most of RDR but I got kinda tired of it by the end of it." I won't buy it if there is. "Why, did you play/like RDR? "
I think they did that setting justice, and would be ok if they laid that gem to rest. I wouldn't do anything differently.
I'd like to see Rockstar tackle a psychological thriller set in the 60's-70's era.. Something Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets "The Shining".. with a real gritty washed out Deathproof/House of 1000 corpses vibe in cinematography, and infuse a little David Lynch-esque story, keeping you guessing, and at the edge of your seat. I know Rockstar could pull it off.. and mend the story/character driven story like no other. Heavy Rain tried, but I think Rockstar can capitalize.
" @Dany said:This is the only GTA-style game that I bought, I played the other games for awhile but never to completion. I don't think the style is tired but the openness is something I was really fond of with this game but I also understand the gta protaginist syndrome that many said when the game was released. Yeah, because the EAST COAST has NO "liberal culture". You wanna remind me what Massachusetts and NY vote? Because it sure ain't Republican. Also, look at all the arts and metropolitan culture in NYC. Yeah, sure screams CONSERVATIVE to me!" @Laketown said:

EDIT: Also I'd quite like to see John Marston's past, but I think that should be more of a Lost and Damned/Gay Tony style DLC thing.
They should do another one but do a different style of western. They kind of did it right but they were definitely working from a John Ford style of western and I'd like to see them do something else. I don't want to be obvious but something more in line with Django or The Good, The Bad and The Ugly would be welcome.
" @Dany: I think it entirely depends on whether R* think there's a story to tell somewhere. I'd kind of like to see the complete other side with people moving West and the problems they faced, but I don't know whether you could make that work in a Red Dead type of game. EDIT: Also I'd quite like to see John Marston's past, but I think that should be more of a Lost and Damned/Gay Tony style DLC thing. "Maybe as a DLC for anoyher red dead game if its set in the past....you kinda meet up with martson for a mission or something and then you see him roam around in a dlc, I would love that
I'm not against the idea, but if so, I hope it's a long time away. In another 5 years or so, maybe I'll be ready.
I might be interested in a rockstar developed game that´s takes place during the time of prohibition. Like Mafia but actually open world.
I feel that the characters and story weren't really that strong and generally a bit inconsistent in terms of quality, If they did make another I just hope those aspects are better. That said I do love westerns so sure.
They certianlly set it up so they can easily do a direct sequal, but I really don't think I would want one, there is only so little you could do with the west. With GTA you can change the city types up and make it vastly unique to that game. There is noting else reallly to see with the west
I really liked the first one that was largely not popular at the time. RDR improved on the game in a lot of ways. I think there should be more western games.
So, I hope so, but I never expected it to have this sequel so I will be surprised if there's another honestly. Although, from what I understand RDR did well so this makes the possibility of another more likely.
We shall see, I guess.
I wouldn't mind if they went back to the time when John Marston was still an outlaw, running with Bill Williamson, etc and explore exactly how their falling-out occurred. How did we arrive at the events of Red Dead Redemption? I'd hate to see anything with Jack, that kid is so annoying. I was glad that I had already done the vast majority of the 100% completion stuff before the end of the game proper. Jack's voice just grates on me.
I like John Marston enough as a character that I would hate to see RDR be the only game in which he appears.
Anyone for playing as Landon Ricketts in his glory days?
Yes, but not following the same characters. Don't forget that Redemption isn't the first game in the series. I would hope for the GTA V engine which will most likely be on the next generation systems. That would be a good time and new tech should carry with it new gameplay opportunities and ideas.
well most people didnt seem to think red dead redemptionwas a good idea before it came out when ive been wanting it since red dead revolver came out. The first one was amazing
I would love to see another red dead. Dead eye was extremely satisfying to use especially later in the game.
" @Laketown said:Do you honestly think that is a valid reason to not have a videogame be set there?"and also another GTA in NYC? really? you can't think of ANY other city? "I hate the West Coast, and hate that liberal culture there...so I'd be pissed if the next GTA was around there."
I never played the first Red Dead game, but after playing Red Dead Redemption last year, I would really want another Red Dead game by R* set in the old West.
As far as I'm concerned, GTA sucks. RDR was much better than GTA IV, but it still has all the elements that made GTA suck. Somehow, I still like RDR.
I'd need the full blown West, not the dying west. Who cares if there are interesting weapon-developments in that era, what we want are revolvers, shotguns, rifles, winchesters, bows and arrows, all that cool stuff, knives, cavalry sabres, axes and shit like that! Nobody wants a Browning 1911 in a western game!

I was just thinking about this. I think it would be great to see them go back as early as possible and make it more of a Frontier survival, Oregon Trail thing. I also wish there was some farming in the game. I was really hoping for a PC version so someone could build A Harvest Moon-type mod in this engine.
