Bullet Point Review: Resistance 2 (PS3)
What I liked:
Backgrounds - The backdrops you fight in front of in R2 are pretty amazing with lots of action and detail in them. The Chicago and San Francisco areas are, IMO, the best.
What I didn't like:
Dark - For some reason this game is dark, even in the day light it's dark. There were times I would pause the game and have to adjust the brightness of my TV just to see properly.
Jump - I'm not looking to jump as high as the Master Chief here but in R2 your jump was not much more than a little hop. There were things in the game (like boxes) that I should have easily been able to jump onto but couldn't.
Death - In R2 death can come at you in a split second and with no way of being prepared. Example - As you play through you'll enter a room and encounter enemies just standing there waiting for you and they'll immediately kick your ass without giving you a chance to counter. It's like walking into a dark room and having the lights turn on while your friends yell 'surprise'. Only once you've died and that area reloads are you ready for what waits around the corner.
A.I. - Don't you just love it when enemies/teammates just stand around while explosions and death happens all around them and they do nothing...almost like nothings happening? No? Me neither. Fix that A.I.
Invisible Walls - There's nothing worse in gaming than being unable to go somewhere that clearly you should be able to get to thanks to walls you can't see. Annoying.
Summary - Honestly Resistance 2 sucks. I never touched it's multiplayer online stuff but the singleplayer campaign seemes like a complete afterthought on the part of Insomniac which is a shame because I really enjoyed R1. Hopefully the singleplayer campaign in part 3 will be a bigger priority because it's terrible here.
Overall I give Resistance 2 (PS3) a 2.5 out of 5.
