This thread probably exists on here but I couldn't find it. 
 
How many of you guys played it or were interested in it before you found out about the ERs. 
 
I did because I had not heard of these guys until the beginning of this Summer.

I had heard about it, but I don't think it made as big of a splash on release as Persona 3 did because it didn't have kids shooting themselves in the head. I will say that I was never into JRPGS at all until I watched the Endurance Run and I am now a big fan.

Nope.  Had no idea about this Shin Megami Tensei universe thing either.

I learned of GB through P4 actually.

I had seen it quite a bit at work (I work at Gamestop...please don't throw things) and thought it was just another bizarre Japanese RPG I would never play. After watching the endurance run I've become a huge fan of the Persona style of gameplay and have bought both three and four.

I did too.    

I learned of Persona 3 prior to release, and played it when it came out. Then I played Persona 4 when it came out. I was still playing it when Vinny and Jeff started. I also created an Endurance Run thread on GameFAQs' Persona 4 forum, helping bring in new members who knew of the game even before they knew of the site.

I learned about persona from a friend and then i found GB and shit got crazy then.

I knew about the game before GB. I had been playing SMT games for a long time before hand.

I had played Persona 3 a year before going onto giant bomb. I also beat Devil Survivor and Nocturne in that time period, as well as getting far into Digital Devil Saga and Strange Journey. So I had some pretty good knowledge of the SMT universe.
 
It was this site that encouraged me to play P4, but it was also because of it that it was spoiled for me also. But that's alright, Persona 3 was good enough for me, so it didn't bother me that much.

I had finished P3 and was halfway through P4 when they started the endurance run. I had bought both of em at the same time when i was unemployed so had plenty of time to play. I started browsing giantbomb not that long before i bought those games, I think.

Another one that shoulda been a poll, but my answer is no.

I had been playing SMT for years, but the trailers and impression of Persona 3 and 4 left me with a really cold feeling. The bitching of some of the more traditional SMT fans also scared me.
 
Watching the ER on GB, though, made me a fan of the game and urged me to buy both P3 and P4. Now, a year and a half later I love them both.

I'd heard things about the Persona series – I think it was Shane on 1UP Yours who would mention how bananas it could be – but the Endurance Run was definitely the thing that got it on the map for me.

I think the reason so many posters here are saying they knew beforehand, because the ER ended a year ago.

I did, because I knew about Persona since it started to exist. Kind of maybe my favorite RPG series.

I've never played it, that style of game ain't really my thing, but I had heard of it. Tis a popular game. I had a friend who was really into the series too.

I've known of Persona since an ad for Persona 2 that I saw ages ago in an OPM magazine and have at least acknowledged SMT games in the intervening years. I had never played a SMT, or any Atlus game really, until I head about P3 and the concept enamored me so much that I picked up the FES version, and P4 when it came out. Loved both of the games but I really have no desire to watch the Endurance Run for P4, I'd much rather just play the game myself.

I had just finished playing Persona 3, and had just started playing Persona 4. Friend asked me if I had seen the Endurance Run on Giant Bomb. I said no, I checked the site out. That's how I became a member.

I got into the Persona series in June 2008 when I bought the third one, and yeah, I'm pretty sure I read about Persona 4 a few times while it was in development. I got it the first day it came out in North America, too. 

I've heard of the series but I didn't know much of anything about it.

No Idea of the existence of those games until the endurance run now any persona game on the 360 (please P5), I will buy

Persona 3 got a lot of awards and Persona 4 was already like the last AAA ps2 game so I felt I had to read and watch some reviews, then one day the ER began and we all went bananas.

I had heard of this and Deadly Premonition, it really annoys me when anyone mentions they like these games and someone automatically assumes OMG endurance run fanboy.

Definitely heard about the games, but never bothered to play them. After seeing some of the Endurance Run I went back and played 3 and then 4.

Woah, it's weird to see some people found this site because of Persona. I had always assumed that everyone here just came over from Gamespot when Jeff, Vinny, Ryan, Brad, and Alex left there.

I played and beat this game with the true ending long before the Endurance Run began, and played Persona 3 back when it was new, as well.  However, it was the discussion of the game and the Endurance Run in the P4 forum that got me more actively involved in the community.

Played and beat P3FES before P4 was announced.
 
Obviously knew about P4 before the ER... But was glad that I didn't need to play through another Persona game again.
 
Getting odd high school flash backs is nostalgic enough once, but twice? Man, fuck that. I never want to wear a uniform ever again!

Weird.  We did have this thread more than a year ago and most people who posted hadn't heard of the series before the Endurance Run. 
 
I had probably seen the name "Persona 3" along with an image a long while before the ER and quickly ignored it because I considered it just another niche RPG that I wouldn't want to play.  After seeing about 3-4 videos of the Endurance Run after I signed up to this website, I realized that this is a game that I would love and immediately bought Persona 3 FES and Persona 4.

That's pretty awesome.  I'd never heard of it. I'm glad that they introduced me though. I finished P3P over the summer and it was so good. "

Knew and was deeply intrigued by Persona 4 before the ER, but was pushed to buying it and P3 because of it.

Didn't know about it until ER.  Then I looked into P3FES and played that before giving P4 a go.  Finished that during the summer so that I could actually finish watching the ER.

I knew of Persona 3 as that game where the characters shoot themselves in the head to attack. Does that count?

I'm suprised so many people hadn't even heard of P4 before the ED. 
 
Personally, I had beaten the game before watching the ED so it was more about knowing when the great parts were coming up and wanting to see Jeff and Vinny's reactions to them for me.

 Wow.  Some responses I wasn't expecting.  I was a member of this site like 2-3 months before they started the ER.  I had heard about it before they started; however, just like before, I still don't care for the game much.  I didn't watch every episode of the ER, just a few, but they were usually quite entertaining.  Maybe I'll go through them sometime... I DID watch every episode of Team VJ's play through of Deadly Premonition.  Hilarious!

heard of persona 3 from the review on g4 a long ass time ago when i watched G4, but i didnt know there was a persona 4 till i saw the endurance run.

I'd heard a lot of good things about Persona 3 and FES, but Persona 4 was kind of a mystery. I knew it had gotten some good reviews as well. I never owned a PS2, otherwise I would have checked them out sooner.
