Abby please play through the Deadspace games once your done with Resi 4.

This is a very exciting part of the game. (Spoilers: all the parts are exciting)

Edit: Any cutscenes where enemies are getting into position can be skipped, but the enemies won't be in place yet. For example, you could skip that cage-closing cutscene and then you have a few seconds to work without enemies harassing you. It's pretty clutch for that moment because Wolverine guy is so, so aggressive.

Double edit: I played the opening of RE7 this morning and I found the performances to be pretty ineffectual. It all felt like a pretty bad horror movie, and not in a campy homage kind of way; it felt like a horror movie that saw a bunch of other horror movies and wanted to be one, but didn't quite understand what made them work. All of the characters were insufferable, and the face rendering tech of the RE Engine has aged tremendously, especially in comparison to where RE2make and DMC5 are right now. It was hard to take seriously as something that was playing itself perfectly straight.

And seriously, Ethan, buddy... if you want the cop to take you seriously, maybe show him your fucking stapled-on hand, instead of just spouting nonsense and begging for his gun. I mean c'mon dude. You could not be any more suspicious if you tried.

The Garrador (guys with claws) are blind so they are actually reacting to Abby running. You can walk and they don't know where you are.

Slide puzzles are trash

I am NOT disappointed, I'm relieved. I'm not bragging about being some l33t g4mez0r sk1llz man, I was feeling like the only guy in the room who DIDN'T smell the shitty smell.

The first time she encountered it, Abby said it reacted to her running and she needed to run. She gets panicky and forgets things when she's scared and/or frustrated. Like pretty much every other human being.

The Deadspace playthrough might be happening so I'm pretty excited about that since for me Deadspace was what RE4 was to a lot of other people. This series does continue being some excellent content though - Abby having to close her eyes is hilarious because it's real.

Dead Space remains one of my favourite games. The atmosphere alone is good enough to suck you in. Abby, you definitely need to play it. Even if it's just as a page to add your game encyclopedia. I haven't played in years so I can't say it holds up but it's definitely worth checking out. At the very least, treat it with that "at the time" mentality.

Just wanted to echo a lot of peoples sentiments here and say a Dead Space playdate would be dope. Also is this RE4 "Playdate" secretly a endurance run?

@stillvictor: peseta/peso are still colloquially used to refer to quarter/dollar. the word peso actually means weight (in currency specifically gold or silver) with peseta meaning an amount or a part of that weight (like a quarter)

Abby is a natural with this game. Very fun play-through.

I'm loving all the times where Abby beats some stuff pretty easily and Dan goes "Oh, I didn't try it that way".

Dead Space 1 and 2 are legitimate classic masterpieces in the survival horror genre and hold up quite well. They both are at the top tier along with Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Amnesia: Dark Descent as the best there is and every video game fan (not just horror game fan) should play them once in their life.

@stillvictor: Not all members of the EU has the euro, some countries like all of the UK or Denmark has made special agreements with the European Comission to be exempted from adopting the euro as the official currency. Obviously, the UK is now leaving the EU meaning only Denmark has that agreement left, I believe most of Scandinavia, including Iceland doesn’t use it either.

Silent Hill has some really great puzzles, especially if you amp the puzzle difficulty, that might be the kind of horror game suited for Abby.

I had a pet gopher snake once but it escaped.

Abby, I love you, but... Watching you get thrown into the pit with bullshit horror games has made for some of my favorite Giant Bomb Content ever.

Having finally played a bit of Dead Space 3, I'd also be up for watching Abby get through 1 and 2 after RE4 is wrapped up. Two is one of my favorite games ever and it still plays great and looks fantastic on PC.

That won't be for a while though, even if it occurs. I wouldn't be surprised if it took them close to 10 more episodes to beat this.

Dead Space is cool but way, way spookier than RE4. RE4 is dumb camp and I never was scared by it, while Dead Space was very disturbing and hard to play alone. Dead Space 2, on the other hand, is more like sci-fi horror Uncharted 2 and not that scary (although, I like it way more). DS3 had its issues but is a pretty awesome third-person loot-based shooter.

Another good game choice for this informal Abby Plays Survival-Horror series would be The Evil Within 2.
