I've always thought any cooking show could be improved by the host coughing directly over the food and you know what? I was wrong.

As a long time fan of the site, I want to say I hope Jeff never leaves the site but the last two weeks have really shown how great of a team he put together and how well the site can live on without him. So hats off to everyone, especially Dave for bringing a lot to UPF lately. Look forward to Jeff's return but been really enjoying all the videos and new series lately, in his absence.

What Ryan would or would not like at this time is irrelevant; his death was a tragedy but the site can't be guided by his imagined moral compass. It's disrespectful to him to try and do as much, especially considering you're just some random person on the internet.

Man I wish ben knew the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates. Complex carbs aka fibrous foods feed the gut microbiome and your body. Ben should be more afraid of soda than say oats or broccoli.

Ben if you read this send me a message, I know a fair deal about human nutrition and the carb fud is getting aggravating.

@charliejones: I feel your pain despite being fairly clueless about nutrition. It just feels like everyone substituted the word 'fat' for 'carbs' in the last few years as the big boogieman. If i look at a broccoli my gut tells me that i'm not looking at an especially harmful food to consume. At least, in moderation. Which should always be the case. Moderation is good.

Must be pretty shitty to pop into the comments after finishing a stream and see folks debating whether or not you suck. Doubly so right before you head home for the weekend. Probably put a little storm cloud over Rorie's head on the way home.

I had a boss once chew me out at 6pm on a Friday, seconds before he logged off Slack and went radio silent on me. Shitty guy that did a lot of shitty things, but that basically sent me into a, "Seriously fuck this guy, and fuck this job!" attitude that didn't dissipate for a good 48 hours or so. Not fun.

I don't know if Matt is going to take this crap too seriously. I hope he doesn't. His responses made it seem like he was at least bothered by it and felt strong enough to respond. So, yeah... Pretty shitty.

Hope if you read this you're having a better weekend, Rorie. I don't always agree with the stuff you say, but from a fellow dog lover, gamer nerd, Jawbreaker fan, and writer... I think you're a pretty solid guy. Definitely proof positive here to never read the comments.

That's exactly what's happening, actually. "Big Food" refers to the special interest groups who benefit by confusion in this case. Ad campaigns are constantly being run via tv, social media, etc pointing the finger at literally everything. Fructose is bad! No ALL SUGAR is bad! BUTTER IS BACK! etc etc.

They do this so that they can continue to sell you processed foods full of cheap filler sugar and fat, most of the fiber removed if there was any period. Ignorance is bliss, so as long as the average person can shrug and say idk and hit that mcdonalds or walmart fried chicken. They know that what they're eating can't be good for long term health but, well, ignorance is bliss.

Sorry to word vomit, it's just frustrating that all it takes is a diet high in fiber and low in processed foods to reduce risk for seven out of the US's TOP KILLERS, and yet Ben screams about the carbs in Oatly.

@bahmirk: Yeah it's this for me, I'm in the middle of playing Youngblood with my wife so i had to skip that and I'm already really bored with mario maker 2 so I ended up skipping the entire episode.

I enjoyed what I could watch of this, but as others have said I think maybe finishing up Youngblood could have been in its own stream? As it is I had to skip over half of the video, which was a little bit of a bummer. I can always come back after I finish Youngblood myself obviously, so it's not the end of the world, but still.

While I hope Jeff takes as long as needed for paternity leave UPF needs a central ringmaster to coordinate the various segments. I actually think putting Business Dave into that role would work out well. Of course the that would make UPF a bit more professional.

I personally would appreciate if Rorie, since he knows how he tends to run on and has mentioned toning it down, made that effort. There's Rorie and there's rude Rorie. I am able to enjoy him myself, but I can't disagree when people complain.

The utterly chaotic shitshow Happy Hours where Will and Norm went completely off the rails were always the best. I don't mind being reminded of those times every once in a while.

@the_lord_fagan: According to GlassDoor CBSi offers 6 weeks of paternity leave so I would guess Jeff will be back by early next month at the earliest.

That is still not much compared to where I'm from so it wouldn't surprise me if they end up taking more time off though.

This was a great UPF. The Business Dave Top Ten continues to be an absolute highlight of the week. I felt like the Wolfenstein segment was dragging around the 20 minute mark, but then I came back around on it after a while. Plus I'm glad I got to see the back half of it, because there's almost no chance of me playing it for myself.

Maaaaaaan, Jan Can Cook: Ben Appetite was giving me strong early Tested vibes back in the Whisky Media days, when they did horrible food crimes like nacho ice cream. Had a pretty down day but this UPF really did make me smile. Thanks duders, all of you. ?✨
