@stradalemc: i totally thought the same thing. I can't believe they said 'no study shows that video games make people violent,' and left it at that. owning, knife, car, pressure cooker, etc. doesn't make people violent either. I would say that people have easier access to knives, cars, etc. than to guns, but no one ever says we need automobile control laws and knife control laws. why is that.

@hunterd78: People need knives, cars and pressure cookers in daily life. No citizens need guns that are capable of massacring dozens of people in the matter of minutes.

@hunterd78: Um...there are absolutely A LOT of laws restricting automobiles. Buying one, selling one, who can drive one, when a person is allowed to drive one, how fast or slow they can drive one, WHERE they can drive one, in what physical or mental state someone with a license to drive one is allowed to drive one, how many people can be in one when it is being driven, how many people need to be in one when it is driving in certain places, how many times you drive one past certain places in certain time frames, where you can park one, how long you can park one in certain places, what you are doing in a parked one, your physical or mental state when in a parked one, how well the car is running, how much it is emitting, whether all aspects are functioning when it is being driven...and these are just off of the top of my head.

@sethmode: all true, but there are speeding tickets, parking tickets, driving w/o licence, etc..., which means that people ignore the established laws when it suits them. there are also many laws on the books dealing with firearms, also people ignore those. what makes anyone think that passing more laws restricting firearms is suddenly going to make criminals obey that law.

@farleyslundgren: the 'need' for those things (mostly cars) is a more of a convenience factor. while our society and civilization has grown around the use of automobiles, at one time not that long ago, people seemed to manage without them. people still had firearms for protection back then though. also, public transportation is a big thing in many places and lots of people do not even own a car in those places. and correct me if i am wrong, but i can't quite remember the bill of rights saying anything about automobiles.

@farleyslundgren: until the day that you do need that type of firearm. the way things are going right now, the day could come when it is everybody for themsleves and you need to protect yourself and your family from multiple people at the same time. do u think they will wait for you to reload before they attack you. unlikely the police will be any help since they will be busy protecting their own families.

@hunterd78: Speeding tickets and parking tickets are just ways of enforcing the restrictions in place, so I don't understand that point. Their existence doesn't mean people ignore the laws in place just like having a penalty for stealing doesn't mean the people ignore the laws in place of stealing. People choose to take risks based on the penalties.

Just because people ignore some laws doesn't mean laws should be removed. And clearly more/harsher penalties and/or more strict implication of those penalties is the only answer here. Doing nothing isnt working.

I'm sure Michael is a nice guy but he was awful to listen to on this podcast.

I have no problem with modern slang - Jan uses it to good effect - but repeatedly injecting conversations with these vapid and inane one-liners ruins the product.

I dunno if he was trying to be funny/cool or whether he has just spent too long on twitter that he has forgotten how to communicate - but good god...

When you defend games but have no problem with demonizing "gun culture" and "the army" you are as uninformed as Trump. Please stay in your niche.

Pretty funny how Brad says Michael quite loves Young Blood and then he ends up agreeing with every slight against the game that Brad brings up :D Sure, it's only a 30$ product but when there are so many things wrong with that game at some point it would've been preferable to make a smaller game that's similar to the wolfenstein games people actually liked. A semi-realistic nazi shooter with health bars and damage numbers (that might obfuscate your vision in close quarters) immediatly strikes me as a misstep. Doing the dmc color thing with ammo also seems like a weird thing to include.

Man, there are too many shadow subtitles in circulation nowadays. Surprisingly, hardly any recent games use it in their main title.

This was not Jason's show. I was listening while doing some garden work and when his voice popped up i was like ohh right, brad made that GOTY joke earlier! Enjoyed the guests, but it did make me remember how surprising it was to learn that Brad knows some japanese, given that most people that know it, shout it from the rooftops.

I'm convinced someone trained a machine learning algorithm using zoomer culture and deployed it on this podcast. This one was tough to listen to. They can't all be winners though.
