Loved the "stealth" Destiny talk. House of Wolves has really gotten me into the game in a way that surprises me.

Haha, that "wolves" picture for the podcast reminds me of the Yahoo answers asking about horses that come up pretty often on My Brother, My Brother, and Me.

Wow, I tried, but no amount of talking about Destiny has been able to make me interested.

Kickstarter and Nintendo talk was fun though.

I don't think they are intentionally trying to mock anyone.

They know some people won't like the Destiny discussion, and used 'trigger warning' as a joke.

Yeah, I read that more as a joke at the expense of a lot of people's really over the top reaction at any discussion about Destiny on podcasts than anything else. Really doubt it was intended to make fun of the phrase itself.

The only places I see so much hate over Destiny are internet forums and various popular gaming sites. I personally think the game is great, and many others do as well. I'm happy that it is such a success for a new IP. It's pretty sad that anyone would get angry over someone else enjoying Destiny and speaking about it in a positive way.

That doesn't make it not in bad taste, though. As Jumb noted, it only encourages people to make more of these jokes in general.

He's saying people on the Internet use it in the wrong context a lot, which is true. Anita Sarkeesian, and people like her, for example.

@millionthlayla: No. Things that trigger trauma flashbacks are a sad fact of life, are also almost unpreventable, because they don't have to be descriptive or even related to the trauma, and aren't paraded like a mark of pride. They are also entirely exclusive to those who have experienced trauma.

I feel tumblr culture of fake PTSD is a mockery of real life sufferers. People put nonsense as their "trigger", which usually just means - I don't like talking about this or that subject.

Destiny is in fact like the NWO. At first we all thought it was pretty darn cool, then we realized it was shallow and nothing more than a cash grab, and now that it has been left to live it is slowing destroying everything. Our own Gaming Jesus has been corrupted be this evil and he has lashed out in anger to his loyal, long time friends and co-workers. And now Mark McDonald has turned on the very listeners that support him. Will the good in Mark return or will his heart be engulfed by the evil known as Destiny? Stay tuned next time to the 8-4 Play podcast.

It is always interesting how people who like Destiny, and want to talk about it end up saying what amount to; 'well, that wasn't as good as it could have been'.

I think there still being people who like Destiny pretty much explains why Taco Bell still exists - Sure the food sucks, but at least its dirty inside too.

Charging $15 for the new "expansion pack" (lol, expansion pack) is hilarious...and by hilarious I mean kind of pathetic. The game has not changed. They have not added any meaningful content to the game. The multiplayer is still unbalanced and lacking quality modes. The "single player" reuses old areas and adds very little content to the game. The loot table is still incredibly small. The game is still obnoxiously easy.

Look, I understand some people like (2014's true "most disappointing game" winner) Destiny a whole lot...but the hyperbole get to when talking about the game makes it seem like Bungie actually did genuine quality work in releasing whatever the content is. If I didn't spend 99% of my time going back to the same areas again it wouldn't be as bad...but yeah.

Also, why the hell can't they add a harder version of free roam? What does Bungie do with all their free time now they only work on 1 game? Seriously...I never imagined my opinion of Bungie could drop so fast and with only 1 game...

Granted, I'm not telling someone they shouldn't enjoy something nor am I saying how someone should enjoy that...but I honestly look at this the same way I would if there was a hardcore, dedicated group of people talking about WatchDogs all the time...though Watchdogs actually had a story...

While I love these guys and enjoy the podcast, the trigger warning joke is maybe not the most awesome thing in the world. People who have the kind of trauma that they need legitimate trigger warnings in front of potentially harrowing content feel picked-on enough. I don't think the 8-4 guys meant any harm, or are even attempting to poke fun at trigger warnings, but flippantly using the phrase still does more harm than good, I think.

@generic_username: Except the whole "trigger warning" thing is being taken to a comical level on college campuses all across America...and that is indeed OK to make fun of. I'm getting a tad worried at how often I'm seeing people do the whole, "you shouldn't joke about that type of stuff" remarks now."

@sammo21: If you were one of those people for whom a trigger warning was an extremely valuable thing to have, though, I don't think you'd find it at all comical. Having been through the mental health circuit personally, I met my fair share of those people.

They have it rough enough without a million people who don't understand poking at them about this stuff.

And if you don't think trigger warnings are at all meaningful or find them something you can laugh at, then you are absolutely one of the people who does not understand. And if you don't understand something, you probably shouldn't try to rally against it.

My main point was that using the phrase flippantly is something that should be avoided, as it does make people less sensitive to this stuff that already has a huge, disgusting stigma attached to it. Adding, "haha, they expect anyone to try to be at all considerate of their PTSD? How lame," to the stigma isn't super awesome either. The people who are taking advantage of people who have issues by claiming that they themselves have issues in order to either get out of class or file lawsuits are part of the "using the phrase flippantly" problem, by the way. I'm not defending that. But putting more trigger warnings in front of things that are triggering is not harmful, and doesn't need to be turned into a joke. It just makes the people that are helped by that sort of thing feel like shit. I'm sure no one wants that.
