Book Off. Hard Off. Hilarious names? Yes. Are they hiding a dark secret? Find out, in the latest 8-4 Play. (Uh, we also talk about Death Stranding and some MMOs.)
Every other week, tune into 8-4 Play for talk about video games, Japan, and Japanese video games, straight from the 8-4 offices in beautiful downtown Tokyo. Hosted by 1UP Japan's own Mark MacDonald, John Ricciardi, and Hiroko Minamoto.
I’m honestly still very confused by Mark’s role within 8-4. Like, he fully works at Enhance Games and does zero localizing work for 8-4, correct? Or does he still own some stake in 8-4? I don’t expect him to fully cease contact with the company after shifting over to Enhance, but when he’s still the official host of the 8-4 podcast, the official host of the company BBQ, etc, it just seems weird. I guess it’s a thing where it’s a small company and he was one of the company founders and he’s good friends with John and Hiroko, but I’m surprised how directly involved and physically present he still is at 8-4.
Did I wildly misread this and Mark is still like part owner of 8-4, but his day job is producer at Enhance? Like, nothing against Mark, he’s entertaining to have on the podcast and everything, but I just really don’t understand this working relationship.
