This looks like a GameCube port of a Dreamcast game

The sounds that play when picking up gems are the same as when flying through rings in NiGHTS. The Nightopian "A-life" was also the first iteration of the Tims in Balan Wonderworld (via Sonic's Chaos).

Is Yuji Naka still trying the perfect concepts from over 20 years ago, or has he completely run out of ideas and is just running on name brand recognition and nostalgia?

Edit: For those who are saying the game is made for small children, it has an ESRB rating of E10+, and a PEGI 7. For children in those age ranges, there are far, far better games, and if it really was aimed at toddlers, the developers seriously missed the mark.

Maybe Balan's Wonderland's target audience is the girlfriend of that person who was looking for recommendations in the forums.

This looks like it missed its mark in the same way that Yooka-Laylee missed its own mark. I still want to check it out to better assess it, but man, it sure looks like a bummer.

Why did Yuji Naka decide to have no voice acting with a comprehensible language? It's not like they saved much effort making a gibberish language with full songs to boot.

I unironically enjoy the stage intro movies. They're well-produced and creative. The gameplay is way too simple and boring unfortunately. Not unlike Dreams.
