Mailbag: Bust Downs' Mailbag - 08/30/2012

Scandinavian candy is awesome! You guys are terrible people for not liking it! This kinda makes me wanna send you liquor chocolate and some other weird stuff, though...

Where in the world does this "Bust Down" nickname come from? It seems to have come out of nowhere over the past day. He wasn't on the Bombcast either.

I've been meaning to know what this Burst Down name is all about.

OH SHIT! Bonbons! those things are great. In middle/high school some of the high level french students sold bags of them as a fundraiser. Although those were probably not the exact brand, bonbons are amazing.

I have lived in Norway for 4 years. the candy selection kinda blows. That said, kvikk lunsj is SO MUCH BETTER then kit kat.

I understand why in the wake of WW2 the term "Jap" was considered racist as it was probably used negatively throughout the U.S.A but, as a Brit and a Scot, from Britain and Scotland. I don't understand why it is still considered racist, Is calling somebody from Japan a "Jap" not the same as calling somebody from Scotland a Scot?

I really enjoy Maker's Mark, its become pretty mainstream but for a good reason, it has a slight vanilla taste to it. Jack is very sour tasting, this is more mellow, I'd also suggest Gentleman Jack its the nicer version, still not as good as Maker's Mark. I have to warn you though Maker's Mark is 45% that extra 5% can really kick you where it hurts quicker than you'd expect.

AVOID Bulleit bourbon that shit will gross you out, its cheap and dirty and not worth the bottle its pissed into.

The stigma just never went away, for whatever reason. I don't know myself if Japanese residents are actually offended by that term, but it's something the politically correct crowd wants to keep people from saying just in case. There's still enough people alive from that era that experienced it first-hand, after all.

I opt to just write "JP", if I have to abbreviate it.

Ah I dunno Ryan and Jeff are both pretty picky eaters, Jeff more so but Ryan has a history of rejecting foreign (in all senses of the word) foods.

The purpose with which Ryan walks into the office is fantastic, he knows where he's going, he knows where he's been, he has it all. Then he eats the sweets.

I'm loving Patrick's Da Bears shirt! I think I'll skip on that foreign candy, like that gummy salt snack, I don't like overly salty explosions.

Perfect way to ruin the newly named break room, just introduce some of this stuff there & people will avoid it thanks to the salty treats from Europe. The GB crew should stock up on the scorpion lollipops for the multiplayer release of Just Cause2 or hopefully Just Cause3.

You don't have to refrigiate the can if it hasn't been opened.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the Bust Downs' thing all about? Did I miss something? I'm a week behind on the bombcast if its from that.

We have that in Sweden too and I really don't like it. When I was in Norway in 97 it seemed like all Norwegians kids ate was sandwiches with chocolate or liver. I choose chocolate, but I prefer a regular ham and cheese sandwich.

Its a canned product, its stored in room temperature and will last for years unopened. So our Bombers will survive :)

Its funny to watch this from the perspective of a Norwegian. We're a bad country for food/snacks compared to Sweden. Everything in Norway is expensive and the selection is kind of rubbish.

I just noticed that Brad and my dog make the same confused chewing face when they are eating something weird.

The liver paste is perfectly edible. Canned, it doesn't need refrigeration. But, as you can imagine, it's replete with preservatives. You shouldn't eat it too much.
