Giant Bomb at Nite - Live From E3 2017: Nite 3

@psyghamn:I don't appreciate the implication that my opinions are based on the fact that they are women in the games industry. I am aware of, mentioned and have not discounted (imo) their background in the industry (although I only know Kelly from the mega booth) and I have enjoyed the games Robin has worked on in the past. There is no way to quantify how "into" games they are anyway - especially on one ~40 min segment. I have also said I, too, would like VR games to take on their own presence and means of communicating among traditional games. It has nothing to do with them being women, I can assure you, that I was not convinced that they cared about games for anything other than the potential of realizing the vision they have for them. It just had to do with the way they spoke about games like they weren't already great. However, they are clearly enthused about games, clearly gamers, clearly people who work in games, all in all I have no real point to criticize them for. I just kind of doubt anyone who wants to change games, like they were already so disappointing and insufficient, is looking around and seeing the greatness of games in every corner and space in which games exist. Keep on looking, look harder, and look when you don't want to.

Your point about my "criticism" being close to the critique leveraged against women in games, speaking their mind and advocating for change, shrinking gamers' safe-space for stagnation, etc. I get. I tried to avoid coming across like that, though I know how close I was striding. Either way you see it, none of this has to do with them being women and I want to make that clear. - BUT REALLY. I wasn't put off enough to really want to carry on this convo for so long... My hunch about this thing is not that strong, I swear.

What a great E3. Little too much negativity around the show this year though. Let's focus on the positive. Games! Lots of cool games and people to play em with. Love this industry. Best week of the year for me mostly because of these shows. It's a Lockdown baby! Can't wait to hear it next year. :)

I'm glad the game publishing studio CEO Dave read these comments so he could get some pointers on how to get a job from a bunch of humorless college kids whose industry experience consists of buying that GameMaker Humble Bundle (which they'll get around to downloading someday).

Also, props to Johnny for asking Jeff, on air, to be in his wedding. That was a strong power move. Don't even give him the chance to say no. I love it.

As always, this was another wonderful E3 from the GB guys. Whoever booked the guests is a God damned hero.

I hear he has been known to fuck, himself.

I could not make it through the last segment. I like Johnny, Lang and the other guy (forgot his name sorry!) but when they started..."singing"....the cringe just became too much. Also it just seemed a little too wild and loose and....there was just no conversation there. It wasn't funny either so, I got nothing.

I get that. There are some nuggets of gold in these segments every year (don't know if JV tweeting Langs phone number will ever be topped), but it can be hard to sit through to get to them.

Thanks Giant Bomb for having the best coverage of E3. Great guests, great comments and just real as fuck. The last segment was amazing, a great way to end this crazy event.

I don't really understand the appeal of the lang zone but jesus just skip past it if it offends you.

Kelly/Robin/Samantha and Jens Matthies were my top tier guests. Janina/Luke Smith and the PUBG/Rami were pretty good to.

Do people realize they are on a fucking video game website?? This isn't the No Fun League for crying out loud. These people make video games and they are supposed to be fun. If people in the video game industry can't get drunk and be silly, then no one in any industry can. I would appreciate it everyone that complained about the "unprofessionalism" of these people kindly removed the sticks from their assholes and moved the fuck on.

I love how with the all female segment Jeff never has to help the conversation along.

I thought this group getting drunk and goofing off was kind of an E3 tradition. Where have people been?! Giantbomb is as much about goofing and inside jokes off as it is talking about games IMO.

@gschmidl: Are you kidding? These events are basically devolve into a party every night once the work is done. I can't remember where he said it, but Jeff talked about how he had to stop drinking at E3 because it was getting so bad. Hell, my friend was there last summer and saw an IGN worker stoned out of their mind one night.

Giant Bomb is doing great work getting all of these industry vets on for sure, but I guarantee that nobody gives a single shit that these guys get together and let their hair down. They may not be your cup of tea, and that's fine, but to assert that because they choose to drink and joke with their friends on an after-hours podcast is somehow indicative of their trustworthiness or conmpetency is laughable.

@ceejay78: Seriously. For a site that has Unprofessional Fridays as a main selling point, it strikes me as strange that so many users find the end segment so detestable.
