I think they're being too harsh on Nintendo and while it seems quiet compared to last year there's still a bunch of stuff coming out (though a lot of ports, that they're coming out on the Switch it makes them worthwhile enough for me personally). Still love my Switch and feel it's in a good place. I'm a fairly big fan of Smash though so YMMV.

Press conference could have been something other than 20 min of patch notes, I'll agree. Still hyped for Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I think the main reason I even buy Giantbomb premium is to support the site that makes these amazing E3 aftershows every year.

I think I say this every time but Jeff's ability to just keep things cool and casual and friendly while he lowkey attempts to grab info you wouldn't get in a normal interview never ceases to astound me. Just interesting content that's super fun to watch.

I've been playing Battlefield 3 recently and most of the things Jeff talked about BF:V already seem to be in the game: class progression, all the squad stuff (being able to see where your squadmate is and immediately spawn behind him, getting points for performing well as a squad), etc.

To anyone that played the later ones, did they remove these features and are bringing them back now and making it seem like a huge new thing?

It sucks that none of the audio from this video features are showing up in the podcast feed. I’d like to keep tabs on what the boys are up to but the only time I have to listen is in the car.

I'm glad to hear that Battlefield V is doing some new things that work. I really enjoyed Battlefield I, and am looking forward to the new one.

@akuze: Yes and no. The teammate preview feature hasn't been in the last few, but getting points for squad work has been pretty constant. They retooled things a bit for Battlefield I, and it sounds like they're doing even more revisionary work for V. It sounds like a good mix of bringing back old features and trying out new ones.

Finding any podcast is usually annoying, but during e3 if you don't catch it when it goes up you're going to lose it forever. I really hope the site redesign is coming soon. Next e3 I would like all the content to not get lost in the sea of trailers.

I say this every year, but Jeff is such a great interviewer. Honest, relaxed, and asks the right questions. Credit to Alex as well for setting up all the appointments.

As someone who actually adores playing a medic in Battlefield, giving the rest of the classes the ability to revive is pretty cool. It'll hopefully take a little pressure off the medic and that sounds nice

@blaggard: Yeah, you can tell when he gets really soft spoken that someone's going to get a little more real then you normally see. He sometimes also does a little "haha we're all friends here" share of similar experience relating to the story he suspects is there. It's really amazing work honestly.

sometimes it's downright magical, When Sony had the blowout E3 and he turned to Adam Boyes and was all "It seems like it's been a pretty good show for you guys..." with this odd side eye look and 10 minutes later he's got the whole story behind that "share used games" video. I mean naturally anyone behind sony would want to brag at that point, and they had a great relationship with Adam prior, but still damn. Still, these videos always remind me what a great interviewer Jeff is.

I caught the tail end--the caboose, if you will--of the train jam discussion. Can't wait to go back and listen to the whole thing.

Aside from Jeff being a great and natural interviewer, one of the great things about these E3 night shows is the wide range of industry people interviewed. Everyone from presidents of gaming divisions to the people running tiny indie studios to people from rival (?) games press gets invited to the couch, and that makes for a wide range of perspectives and experiences. As others have said, these shows are one of the reasons that Giant Bomb is worth supporting.

I love this format, and the night shows. Jeff always seems to ask the right questions.

Sea of thieves...what if we champion fetch quests and build a whole game around them.

What is the point of emergent gameplay if it is build around a really simple system. This means that there isnt any depth to the game or anything to learn in the long run. It is just the same stuff over and over for several levels.

This rare guy sounds really like he is believing his own pr about their game being so different from any other game.
