I was hoping Brad would bring up Shattered Memories for best story but he got hung up on that cornball Starcraft 2 nonsense.

The story gains momentum and intrigue from this fundamental shakeup, and you get a more colorful cast of characters to work with thanks to the relative lawlessness you're operating in. There's a breakneck pacing to working on the fringes of the galaxy, and of galactic society, that really grabbed me and pulled me right along for the ride.

To then turn around and say this game doesn't belong on the list of best story of the year...  And then in this podcast you say it's story is disjointed!  You have ZERO credibility and I have lost all respect for you.

ME2 has the best story of 2010, hands down.

He said it doesn't belong in the top 3, and nothing he said in the original review contradicted that, you fucking child.

He did the same thing with the discussion regarding best add-on. In his review and in the ME2 podcast (January) he said he thought the game's combat was up there with the best third-person shooters. But when he wanted Minerva's Den to win best add-on, he severely downplayed ME2's combat.

How many 5 star games did Brad review this year?  Maybe you should take the blinders off fanboy.

From his review of Shattered Memories:

"  One of the most interesting and yet least apparent aspects of Shattered Memories is the long list of ways it reacts to your play style. From the questions and psych tests your therapist throws at you to just about everything you do while exploring, the particulars of the storyline can change dramatically. The game determines which areas of the town you have access to, what supporting characters look like and how they act toward you, even the personality of Harry himself (right down to the comments he makes on the things he sees). The thing is, none of this is obvious the first time you play through the game; the story simply comes off as, well, the way it is. But there's real merit in playing through again, making significantly different choices and giving different answers to see what changes. A striking amount of it will. For what it's worth, I found that giving honest answers to the therapist's questions and playing according to my gut produced an outcome that was very much in line with my sensibilities. For once, your mileage will definitely vary."

See this? This is what he said about a story that didn't even get brought up. I know you're hung up on the star score, kid. But that's a personal problem with your defective reasoning skills.

Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon came out last year guys. For as much time as you spend mocking digital Nintendo releases, you don't seem to pay attention to the boxed ones.

Also, Brad's argument against Mass Effect 2 is bull. It isn't the best story because you couldn't have your perfect ending? And because of a stupid final boss? Please. It's as if he's going out of his way to bring down Mass Effect 2 so Starcraft will win or something.

I definitly don't agree that ME2 had a great story, but Brad's objection to it is heavily flawed on a basic level.  His argument isn't a story one.  Its a character design one.  If the game tells you in just text that the reapers are liquidating humans and using the remains to build a human shaped reaper because they believe humans are the most advance race of this current galactic cycle, that sounds fine.  And that is what the story is.  The fact that the reaper looks like a terminator is all character design, and ME2 has plenty of bad character designs aside from that as well.  With Brad's logic, I can argue against the story by saying those dog shaped robots look retarded as does all the helmets for the Turian Blue Suns.

I would also like to say how disappointed I am with how Brad's been acting to get his way in these arguments. I'm perfectly fine with him thinking Minerva's Den was best DLC and Read Dead Redemption was best story. But I would have been even more okay with it if, instead of contradicting, screaming, and strong-arming himself to the top, he had instead worked better on coming up with concise and reasonable arguments for his choices. He spent most of his time arguing why other popular picks did not deserve to be up there.

Yeah...just a bit of a bummer.

They mentioned that the extra costumes in Enslaved are gamebreaking. Well, you're not allowed to use them until you finish the game once so they don't  really break the game.

I really don't see anything too unreasonable today.

Brad debates and argues why he doesn't think ME2's story isn't that great, everyone disagrees and he kinda relents, though they acknowledged a few of his points, and then everyone else agreed that RDR's story is better.

So why is everyone bitching?

With regards to ME2 I absolutely agree, without second thought it is definitely the very best video game story I have experienced, fuck this year. The end boss is fucking irrelevant to the core story *rolls eyes*. Brad had got strangely pissy in these podcasts, case in point his really bizarre argument for that bull shit ass Bioshock DLC, he only "won" that one as no one else could be bothered to argue any more - Vinny had clearly disagreed but conceited. Red Dead Redemptions story is way overrated, fuck Marston's ass hole son.

Also how on earth was in game storytelling totally ignored in talking 'best story'.

@CouncilSpectre: I'm not pissed, just curious.

Also, bringing up the review doesn't really make sense to me. Have you considered that it is one of the early releases this year, and that he might have changed his mind over the course of the year as he played more games?

I mean, it's not as if he pisses all over ME2 all the time, he even agreed that that it's a great game along with everyone else, just that there are better games in these categories.

Does anybody actually legitimately enjoy MAss Effect's Main Story?IDK reallly what the hell it is...something about reapers. But how they write the characters, side missions, is part of the game's overall story. So they deserve to be in the conversation.

ME2 had some interesting side stories but the main story was kind of a joke.

Don't really give a shit who shares my opinion, but it seems that Brad's rose tinted goggles are finally starting to clear up in regards to ME2

Red Dead wins because of the encroachment of industry? and the grand beautiful diverse fully built universe with loads of deapth in ME2 is ignored, the best sci-fi experience put to game just flat out ignored, seriously? If ME2 is being reduced to 'Get a team, fight the badies' then surely RDR must be reduced to 'Get home'. Ridiculous. Fuking ridiculous. RDR's story is literally just Western Movie cliches, granted that's why I had loads of fun with it but no way is that best story of the year material. Man, they should really not have rushed this out in one day.
And another thing, in yesterday's bullshit DLC argument Brad even said that the best thing about Shadow Broker was it's awesome story and that it didn't win because it had more combat than story, which also I think is daft - I didn't think there was anything wrong with ME2's combat at all, I thought it superior to GoW FFS.

I don't really care. People's opinions and views on games change as time passes. Some are seen in a better light as time passes in other cases people begin to see flaws. A review was his personal opinion at the time the game came out. Anything beyond that is a retrospective.

Solution to all the problems people are having with Brad:

  http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/brad/

It wasn't hard to find, and it's easy to post on his wall.  If you have concerns with the guy, bring it to the man.  Otherwise, it's all just hyperbole and for personal benefit, so shouldn't even be made.
