Giant Bombcast 08/05/2014

You know how they say every person is a special and unique snowflake? Well I think that's mostly hippy bullshit, but you, you are a snowflake.

I remember having a similar experience to Dan's microburst story, except it was a tornado, and I was standing in front of a gallery of windows just watching the trees being uprooted from my backyard. I also didn't realize the tornado jumped over my house.

I'm not convinced Dan is not some multi-dimensional being that exists continually in both the 1990s and present time. I have not thought about pogs for years.

So @brad. Now that we've witnessed the madness of Drake and Ryckert in the same room, how excited are you for the inevitable meeting of Dan and Dave Lang?

Seriously though, this was a great podcast. You were great @johntdrake, hope you are around more often!

Dan is a special individual, and I mean that in the most sincere, nicest way possible.

This was an awesome podcast. A lot of great energy. I hope, Drake can be on it more often.

Seems like I say this every week now. But holy shit, this one had me laughing out loud for minutes at a time.

Drake: You're obviously a cool dude who doesn't mean badly, but I agree that some of the Ryckert criticism was jarring. I wouldn't want anyone on the podcast to have to defend against repeated, personal criticisms of who they are, but that's what Dan was having to do at points. It got a little uncomfortable, mainly because it was uncalled for. No one was repeatedly attacking you.

There's a reason Philly GameStops would fingerprint. According to Gizmodo, back in'09 a Philly postal worker in the Germantown area stole 2,200 GameFly discs and traded them into GameStops. I'll refrain from spamming links, but just look for the story.

Still creepy, though.

Dan is a wonderful addition to the podcast. I would've loved to hear Ryan's reactions to the unbelievable shit that comes out of this man's glorious mouth.

That was my question I sent in to them. When he said "he then goes on to name a couple other games in that vain..." referring to Ocarina of Time, I also named Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime. It would be really cool to see how they all have to completely reinvent the games and tackle all the issues that come with going from 2D to 3D worlds, combat, and all that good stuff. I was really glad to hear my question asked and to hear all their good answers. Makes me sad though that there aren't more documentaries following the making of all these great games that come out.

This was an absolutely hilarious Bombcast. Drake and Dan were on fire, and Brad and Drew held it down as always. The last five minutes, after the music, had me rolling around.

holy fucking shit team @johntdrake all the way! i echo pretty much everything he said on this cast. man i wish GB had the funds to hire him, i assume that's the reason as he's kind of a suit. god damn hilarious and witty as hell. kinda fills the ryan and vinny void :(

I know there are a few people that do animations of clips from the podcast, so PLEASE someone who pumps those out do a cartoon version of Dan's post-credits apocalypse story. Rigoddamndiculous.

Now that I've finished the episode, I'll reiterate my fantasy that Drake is at least a semi-regular on the show from here on out. He is an incredibly perfect balance to Dan's...stuff.

Great? It was probably the best episode of the entire year. I normally love some T-Drake action on my Bombcast but together combined with Dan's incredible stories I listened to it twice - something I pretty much never do. Not to mention that the first time around I tuned out when the credits music came about so imagine my surprise and glee to find out there was an entire extra Dan story after the credits? And man.. WHAT a story.

Okay I have been skipping though the podcast for 30 min looking for the part where dan tells the starwars story. WHERE IS IT!!!!!

So, anyone else not able to download this episode with their podcast manager? Beyondpod says that it's 11kb, whereas every other Bombcast ever has been around 89mb. Tech issues still persisting?

Dan is growing on me, (not that this matters all that much) but I think Drake nails it on the head in regards to his bold declarative statements with no room for diplomatic couching. I'd say that's half the reason for the vitriol that comes in the emailbag. At least in recent days Dan's run afoul of Jeff leading to comedy.

Can Dan just keep topping himself every week?!

Dwayne "Turok" Johnson is one of the funniest things Brad has said in a while.

You know, I really like John Drake, but the whole Sony shill aspect rubbed me the wrong way. I know a lot of it was in jest but still, some of that "Sony is awesome!!!" stuff was a little jarring.

I'm also not a big fan of the Bradcasts but I love the hour email bits. Easily the best part of the Bombcast these days.
